Because no one is allowed to voice their opinion on that forum unless its a nice one. But randomly stopped Theeeeeeen he had his own forum called mondeoworld. But it had like 4 members including myself. He banned me because he knew i came from evo. And then the forum closed down so bugger knows where he is lol

  8. It aint just you. I have never liked the whole facebook/twitter shite and personally never even consider using them after looking into them once. "social networking" that does nothing but encourage the exact opposite.... I cant be the only one that strikes as bizarrely hypocritical? I prefer a forum based setup simply because it creates a environment for a more easy paced discussion where someone can consider and take their time wording their thoughts and limits the amount of foaming mouth retards that think they have to answer every comment as fast as possible regardless of what the response might be. to ALL you facebook fanboys.......a small titbit of friendly advice. get a girl have sex go the pub tadaaaaaa..... now your really "socializing"

  9. What's up Evo? I know I haven't been round much lately, I've had a lot on my plate.. But just thought I'd update the world of Evo what's going on.. Firstly I no longer own an escort.. The Rs has had a fair bit of cash out of me over the past few months.. And still kept throwing problems at me so after a feul pump failure while taking my son to a football course.. Enough was enough. So the escorts gone.. It's replacement however is this... url="http://s27.photobucket.com/user/marshy61278/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps99a77b4d.jpg.html"]http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c151/marshy61278/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps99a77b4d.jpg[/url] http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c151/marshy61278/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsa6980c61.jpg An o6 plate st3 84k 2 previous owners 12 mths mot.. 10. ok ok! So got a piece for the scuttle and got that welded in, although in true style heres the before pic but didn't take an after.. http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q115/stuey6/capri%20resto/0ac5bb19b52130c558a1245322e53aaf.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q115/stuey6/capri%20resto/3c4076092012f8180badabf09f521e4b.jpg Outer sills on, one side fitted well the other is about 15mm longer that it should be. Strut top reinforcements on, again what a crap fit these are, had to cut them in multiple places to try and get them to shape to the inner wing. Underside finished and cleaned Some Zinc primer Final coat of rubberised paint stuff, can't remember the name, bloody expensive: Plan was to get the car back to a rolling shell before the birth of my first child, but the wee devil arrived 7 weeks early and dashed that plan. I can now see why you hear of people starting projects and not getting back to them for about 20years! Hoping this won't be one of them. So since her birth I've got it back as a rolling shell, polybushes of course Front brake upgrade mock up. Going for mk1/2 mondeo calipers with brackets knows as the GTR280 kit. Hubs were machined done to accept the discs on the front of the hubs rather than bolt to rear as standard setup would be. And that's you all pretty much up to date. I'm in the process of refurbishing the front calipers now, they are stripped and painted, just need to put them back together. I've also cut out the standard radiators mounts and doing some repairs where they were removed. I need to put in a bigger radiator so one of the next steps is to get one that fits and make up some brackets for it. Undecided if I'm going for a custom alloy job or a sierra option.

  15. Some of you might remember, some of you not. Used to post on here a bit, but seems very quiet these days. Guess Escorts aren't very popular anymore. Rather worryingly, I still have three! A '94 Equipe, a '91 RS2000 stage rally car, and a '96 RS2000 F2 rally car. I've also got a Clio 172 Cup and a Golf R which is my daily. Five cars is probably too many but you only live once...

  16. 1) Not as much as you'll value it. At the end of the day it's a rusty 16 year old Escort, and I mean that with the least possible offence. £500-700 with a years test? 2) List it here and (more so) other Ford enthusiast forums such as Passion Ford. If it's solid then someone might want to buy it to stick a bigger engine in it. Sadly it won't be bought for a good home. It'll be bought as a cheap hack or a project.

  20. It was inevitable. The Mk5/6 Escort was never going to be a classic so over time it was always going to die out. Most cars have about a 15 year lifespan. Escort production ended around that time ago. Coincidence? I doubt it. Most of the newbie threads here now are about people trying to get old cheap escort van work horses fixed. That makes sense, people are much more likely to get their work van fixed than but a new one. Cars don't have the same dependency. I'm not convinced by the whole growing up comments. Sure some people will leave because their priorities change, but 'addicts' will always come back for their fix, as long as there's a fix available. Not much of a fix here now, though. I met one of my best mates on Evo, and another good friend I keep in touch with. In fact we're planning on building a Ford based drag car in the next year or so. Not an Escort though! I've not owned a Ford since 2006, but still have an interest. Probably something to do with working at the blue oval from 2008-2014. May go back one day. And even with buying a new house and a demanding job, I still check the site every now and again.

  21. In all seriousness now though this site has gotten so quiet that [if it were me funding it] I'd shut the server down. It's a shame and im not sure if it can be saved or not, or if many people would even care. The market for the mk5-6 escorts (bar maybe cossies) has all but died and i wont be saddened by it. When the MMB was busy with posts about off topic things I loved coming in here for the chat, and being educated by Stu on all things tuning, entertained by the banter from people like Shaw and Sid, and interested in some gorgeous builds like MarkyMarks which was probably my fave mk6 of all time. Could some effort be put into the evo facebook page so we could have some banter posts on there just to keep up? Cos im gonna miss you guys but i CBA logging in here to check that there may [likely not] be some banter or chat going on. However I do spend time on facebook commenting on posts in groups relating to things i have interests in so if Evo's page got busy......... Failing that. May as well say goodbye all

  22. Cheers all. Well, I have a handbrake handle and gear knob to fit along with a new part for the back of the steering wheel ( has the wire that connects the airbag) to fit then interior is all in, done and finished bar some more cleaning. I'm hopefully gonna get my extended wheel studs/coilovers fitted when it goes in for MOT. And just before that I'll have my tyres fitted so new wheel can go straight on at MOT time. Just before that though I need to re wire my headlights. The morettes have a plug, that the plug on my loom doesnt fit. I have new plugs that will fit but just need to clip the wires into the plug in the right place to get the headlights up and running. Its gonna all come together REALLY quick when I book the MOT. It needs a few touch ups body work wise and the front bumper building up again, but will get the major things/mot done 1st and do the bumper at my own leisure. Really nothing much happened of late as tbh.....its cold outside and I have NO motivation to do ANYTHING in that weather. As soon as it warms up I'll be straight on it!

  23. Thanks chaps. Radiator arrived this week, its slightly bigger than I thought, either going to have to modify it or put it in at a slight angle, neither of which is ideal. Also ordered my x pack kit which should be here any day now so should see some quite big visual updates soon.

  37. Yeah, we have a new rad for the job, the old one is just for the trial fitment. Cheers! I do have a bad memory but I hadn't forgotten about you! Cheers! Thanks, I should maybe have built 2 engines, one to use and one for show! I've never seen any close up detail as to how anyone else has there water pipes connected to the turbo so I pretty much made this up as I went along. To join onto the existing system I needed to cut hoses and fit a metal sleeve in place with a spigot. In true scrapyard challenge style I found what I needed in stock already, once from an MG ZR, the other from a Transit Connect - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01629.jpg The required sections were cut from each pipe - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01630.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01631.jpg Painted up and ready to fit - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01632.jpg First one fitted into the Radiator hose, again I also found a section of suitable hose to fit onto the spigot which will eventually fit onto the banjo fitting on the turbo - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01633.jpg Hose held roughly in the place it will sit when connected to the banjo bolt - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01634.jpg Next one fitted, also with a suiatble section of hose from a scrap car - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01635.jpg Hoses clipped together to hold them in place - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01636.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01637.jpg Hose held roughly in place where it will join the banjo bolt - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01638.jpg You can see roughly how it's going to work, I was quite happy at this point as I'd been able to sort out the water pipes just by using parts we had here and adapting them instead of buying new when there was no need to do so - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01639.jpg Trial fit with the radiator again, just to see how it looks - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01640.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01641.jpg Top hose from Thermostat Housing fitted and bracketed to the block to keep it clear of the throttle cable - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01642.jpg And that's all the water pipes sorted apart from the banjo bolts on the turbo - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01643.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01644.jpg Intercooler and Pipes as supplied with the Turbo engine, these were originally fitted to the car that the donor Turbo Engine was removed from, they might not be the prettiest but if they'll do the job then I'll tidy them up and we'll use them - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01645.jpg Lower Pipe fitted - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01646.jpg Upper pipe fitted to Throttle Body - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01647.jpg And fitted to Intercooler - http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01648.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01649.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/Doctor-Evil-RS2000-Turbo-Engine-Rebuild/01650.jpg Now that I know it all connects up as it should I'll be able to clean up and paint some of the metal pipework etc so that it's all ready to fit when the engine is in the car.

  42. do it, mate been racking up the miles on the escort over the last couple of weeks and clocked up 992 miles in total. last weekend me and a mate went up to cambridge to visit a friend of ours and ended up going b road bashing for a few hours. we stopped for a few pics http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa83/michaeld4316/cambridge1_zpsb121d75e.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa83/michaeld4316/cambridge2_zps62bbb470.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa83/michaeld4316/cambridge3_zpscf910808.jpg then off to santa pod yesterday, it would have been rude not to put the car up the strip and see what it could do.... http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa83/michaeld4316/santapodque_zps250a9ebb.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa83/michaeld4316/santapodstrip_zpsf7f48b67.jpg this highlighted a few small issues with the car that need to be addressed, my best time was 15.06 which i was a little disappointed with but the surface was a bit greasy and was struggling with grip... anyway the car survived the day and drove home faultlessly so over all very happy with it.

  45. Thought I'd look at the fronts today. Quite confident that everything is as it left the factory on this car, which gives you an idea of what condition things are in and how any years of ***** stands in the way of me removing parts. I've read all the guides and although I'm sure there are many ways to skin this cat, I couldn't see any way around removing as much as I did in the end. Arsed: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000530.jpg Things coming off okay actually. I had concerns about the 10mm bolts that hold on the brake hose, pipe and ABS sensor since one of the rears detatched itself just by looking at it yesterday. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000532.jpg To the top, remove the cap and loosen the strut top bolt: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000533.jpg Genuine Audi front shocks I got as a bargain on eBay, Lemforder top mount and ARB link. Then on to my least favourite job.... spring compressors. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000534.jpg So.... Strut to bearing carrier bolts removed, ARB link, strut top nut, 2 10mm bolts on the brake pipe bracket to strut, tie rod end nut and the caliper loosened and knocked an inch off the carrier in order to remove the bottom bolt. Simples :| All other fittings clarted in Plus Gas ahead of replacement wishbones, tie rods and 996 brake conversion RIP splash shield 1991-2014. It'd be ditched for the conversion anyway. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000535.jpg The special tool failed me with the fronts, a mix of it slipping out, rounding the hex cap and just not being able to get enough torque on it with a 2ft breaker bar. Wasn't sure what was going to break first if I kept at it, but it would probably have ended up with me injured or dead. Got inventive and despite feeling like I was trying to reverse the turn of the earth, this worked without too much drama: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000536.jpg No pics of assembly, it is the reverse of removal but with less blood and swearing. Thought I had new bump stops and dust covers but didn't.... so the old ones are on. They'll do for now, but does anyone know where I can get the little white discs that come with Koni shocks (maybe others) that go over the cap that holds the shock in place to stop crap going into the top seal of the shock? Does that make sense? So, it's starting to look like a car from a distance. I'd imagine it will settle a little then should look quite nice with the 17" Avus (still on its winter 16" wheels). Replacement wishbones and bushes (genuine Audi, none of this solid nonsense) and the 996 conversion within the next moth, then MOT time. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000537.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000538.jpg

  49. Dear Lord. Jesus must have entered the server room himself for this to happen.
