  1. I was actually thinking about this car the other day, although I have no idea what made me think of it now! Nice to see it still going strong though.
  2. It's been progressing, I do have a few newer photos to upload when I get round to it, but progress has slowed down recently as my mum has been very ill, and she sadly passed away yesterday, so been a little pre-occupied with that just lately Progress will speed back up again in the new year Mike
  3. Sorry chaps, I am still around, and Stoo just told me to get my ass in here, lol! Cheers fellas!
  4. You won't lose any rigidity taking the skin off. If you want to see exactly what a skin is (it ain't much believe me!), remove one from a scrap car, no rigidity is lost! I'd rather stick to having one on a caged car though for other reasons, although I'm sure it's just undue worries. Next update will be about work on the engine bay. Plenty to do there, but haven't had the time to spare over the past 2 weeks. Will squeeze some in this week though!
  5. Few pics of the roof skin test fitted http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/tikster/Mike897Small.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/tikster/Mike899Small.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/tikster/Mike900Small.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/tikster/Mike901Small.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/tikster/Mike902Small.jpg sorry the photos are SHITE, phone camera is fecked I think. Carbon ain't easy to photograph at the best of times, so you'll have to trust me when I say the weave is as STUNNING as I've ever seen. Truly awesome, highly recommended!
  6. Agreed Can never see why people bang on about that Rosie, she ain't nice at all...
  7. It's a massive price to pay, but Ibrahimovic is great. He's never stepped up at the big tournaments, especially for Sweden, but week in, week out, he's one of the World's great strikers.
  8. Not personally I'm not, but it's definitely being done, lol
  9. I've put that on hold for the time being mate. Got a bit more work to do on it before then. I was going to send it straight off for blast cleaning so it'd make the surfaces I've got to work on cleaner and easier to work with, but if I do that then the bare metal will just start rusting straight away, so thought best doing it the other way round. With the aid of a bit of linishing here and there it's not going to be too bad to work on.
  10. I will be taking a pic of that when I actually get it, which should be next week.
  11. Polycarbonate Obviously the windscreen will have to stay glass, but that is all
  12. You don't have to, no. Structurally, a roof skin really is nothing. I've got my original one in the garage, and it's just a really thin, flimsy piece of steel that can be depressed with your little finger. It's just held onto the roof parts that do really matter by a series of spot welds. Personally though, I'm not sure if I would want to fit one if I didn't have a cage, just for peace of mind. There are plenty of cars in the world running a carbon roof skin, which will have been stuck on with Tiger Seal or similar, because that's all you can do with it really, and have seen them do 180mph+, and still not budge at all. But, whilst if I decided I really wanted one, I'd probably still have one regardless of whether the car had a cage, I know I wouldn't be so confident as I am with a decent cage. As things stand, I didn't think twice. fair enough i was just considering something like that for my escort 3 door project i have, as it currently stands it doesn't have a sunroof so i was considering putting a sunroof in, but when i saw that beauty carbon fibre one you got, that made me think twice for definate!! If you're just wanting it for cosmetic purposes, then I'm sure you can come up with ways of adding extra security. Considering a standard roof skin + sun roof will weigh over 30kg easily, and a carbon fibre skin is around 3kg, I'm sure you can devise some form of extra security to the roof and still save weight over a sunrof skin.
