some of you may know that i think ive blown my gear box, having too much power, so.....

can i replace my MT75 g.box that came with my 1.8si with a MTX g.box that is found in the RS2000 and the focus RS? (this is uprated thogh for the focus)

p.s. any advice would be much appreceited

not a clue m8 sorry

im going for the same gearbox as before which i think was an mtx75 and if i had the cash id get a limited slip differential for it from focus-central.com andim also getting a new power clutch and lightened and balanced flywheel

isn't the MT75x the reverse lift one like on Ians diesel/Mondeos and other Fords???

Normal one is MT75 i think

The MTX75 in the rs2k has a LSD and the focus has a quaffe LSD, you should be able to do a straught swap if your's is alread a mtx75 :)

I was just about to say that. :thumb:

whats a quaffle? ?(

The MTX75 in the rs2k has a LSD

not as standard it doesn't... ?(

mine is just an MT75 g.box the one i want is the MTX75 g.box all i know is they are different and one is stronger than the other

The MTX 75 box was fitted to all the 130ps model escorts and orions and the rs2000 and the focus and mondeo. In the focus RS it has a quaife ATB (automatic torque biasing) Differential

All other Mk5 / 6 escorts had the IB5 gearbox if i remember rightly.

The MTX75 should fit yours no problems if you get the correct remote arms

get one like i have mate with a lift reverse, there meant to be alot stronger and derv boxes have better ratios for acceleration

I always thought the MTX 75 box had 543gth and a 21bbb thrupple? connect that up to a 67 speed Dinglehoffenfargen and you'll have a more than adequate QQQ system, enough to make you 'the cruise dude'.

Dunno if the negative and positive Quargies that they belt out will have 0.0000032 system change though, best ask over at Demon Tweeks. :)

Have a look down your local scrappy and ask if they have any RS Focus's in..........might be lucky. X( Al.
The remote arms are the control arms that connect the gear stick to the gear box
