steering wheel removal

ok, 1st question is, how do i get the bleedin steering wheel off?? i know you disconnect the battery for half an hour before you even attempt to remove the steering wheel, but ifther that do you just pull the airbag off?? i tried it and the friggin thing wouldnt budge, had the steering column off to see if it was there but couldnt find anything

 

and second of all, when i fire the car up, it revs all the way up to between 2-3k for about 30 seconds, then drops, but when im driving it starts again and the car effectivly drives its self!!

 

any ideas as im at my whits end

air bag has two bolts to undo.about 5.5 ml

yeah two bolts behind the airbag to the left and right of the steering colum, they are facing the dials.

they have told u about the bolts but the revs sound like to me,that yourair flow sensor needs changing,a comman fault on escorts

if its the two silver bolts then i know what you mean and i had a feeling the MAF was fubar, just needed conformation
