Looking at the guide Ian made at the top, it doesn't state whether or not the parts required are for 1.8 or 2.0...

"Here is the list of parts I would advise you to buy:

New clutch kit

Water pump gasket

Sump gasket

Oil pick up pipe gasket

Auxiliary drive belt (£14 new)

Cam belt kit

New Zetec oil filter (£3 new)

Oil pump seal

Oil pump gasket

Inlet gasket

Exhaust gasket

Water pump (£35 new)"

I would've thought most of these parts were interchangeable but want to double-check :)

Cool beans

Does that include the cam belt kit aswell? Because I'm sure someone told me its setup differently on the mondeo....

it's still a silver top zetec, so it's set up the same, just need to change the water pump, sump and oil pump with pickup, and it depends on what gearbox you want to use. I just used the gearbox off my escort by changing the flywheel and clutch, cps

Also, what needs to be done to make this legal? (insurance and logbook wise)

notify the DVLA of the engine number and a noticr from the garage who carried out the conversion stating its been carried out correctly.

AFAIK the insurance companys will have it as a 2l on their computer after this which makes it cheaper than just telling them its one.

and what if you did it yourself :P

do you have to take it to a garage to be checked I'm assuming? and they write out a letter saying it's OK

if one can get 2ltr mondeo, can one not swap the engine out of the mondeo into a escort and everything else off the mondeo that is needed, or does one have to still purchase the above listed items?

no. as we've said, you need these parts. otherwise we wouldnt have said it would we?
