sk8xtrm
Reading about this the other day, i really hope they make it, looks mean as hell from the front http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/images/front_picture_library_UK/dir_516/car_photo_258132_25.jpghttp://www.autoexpress.co.uk/images/front_picture_library_UK/dir_516/car_photo_258135_25.jpg copies from auto express directlyInside, the Capri will offer a 2+2 seating layout, with a cabin inspired by the current-generation Mondeo’s. Under the skin, it’s likely that Ford will follow VW’s approach with the Scirocco, which sits on the Golf platform, and base the car around the Focus. That will mean a front-wheel-drive layout and a similar engine line-up to the family model, with the range topped by the 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged unit from the ST hot hatch. An RS version, powered by a 3.2-litre six-cylinder motor and offering four-wheel drive, could also be on the cards.http://hvtm.totalcar.hu/car/m/ford/632143.jpg That will look & sound imense, i really hope they make this Edited May 6, 2008 by sk8xtrm

Fat Del
Don't like the looks. Idea is brillient, but they should have made the looks closer to the old one's I think
MikeyRS
The last pix, of the RS style one, has a certain Aston Martin look, very nice!!
rogerthecabbyboy
should be rwd!!its like the new mini or beetle, may be a good car but its just using the badge and not sticking to the original ethos
MikeyRS
should be rwd!!its like the new mini or beetle, may be a good car but its just using the badge and not sticking to the original ethos Yeh but times change, manufacturers make them more 'modern'. you couldnt use the old capri's styling in this day and age, not with competition between manufacturers. Fat Del
I still think they should have made the concept *similar* to the old one. I love the stylings of the old Fords and the new one's look too Generic and similar to other manufacturers.
nick_ov_uk
the probe was going to be named the capri.

Spot on there mate! but think of it from a car stylists point of view......if you already have a car that sells really well and appeals to an incredibly large amount of people, you would want to only tweek the styling slightly in order to create a 'newer' image. To try a whole new shape/design/name on the one car would be hit /or/ miss maybe this is why they test the water with more and more concepts first agreed most look similar tho
Craig855S
the window line is very capri. Not too keen on the blunt back end.. but the RS concept looks very aston indeed! needs to be RWD tho, ford are being cheap, the car will sell on the heritage of the old capri but wont be bought its not gonna convert any BMW owners
Barry-334
it does look good, but then that's the whole point of prototypes! if it does go into production, I doubt it would look like that (shame!). There's a lot of Ford/Jag & Aston design features in there The old Capri was a great car, and the Probe & Cougar never really lived up to it. Ford have been saying for years that the Capri will be back, but it has never happened. Maybe now it will... we will have to wait & see....! mutley
firstly AUTO EXPRESS is the biggest load of bullshite in the motoring press.. sunday sport print better made up stories secondly.. this pic.. http://hvtm.totalcar.hu/car/m/ford/632143.jpg was a pic of the mondeo coupe they were showing off yonks ago an has nothing to do with any kind of "CAPRI", but again it wont get made as its a concept third.. ford would never ever revive the name capri in the same way they'd never bring back the escort and their dropping the fiesta name

onehotminute_191
if they are producing that car they shouldnt use the capri name. they couldnt recreate it properly. if they are gonna do it they should rebuild the mk1 and add a few extras but with a better engine and better handling. like replace the pinto with a zetec then you got a/c electric windows, central locking. maybe even smooth out some of the edges but not too much. it still wont be 'the capri' but it'll be a more modern aproach to it. then again i just prefer the old one and wouldnt want to change it. maybe make it go faster...............
