MC_Bob
I personally, would: Duct tape the painted side to hold the bumper together and flat,P38 bridging fiberglass over the inside of the crack to hold it together.P40 and a lot of rubbing down on the outside. Marcopolo
Please tell me if my plans of rattle spraying the grays is right or not? 1. give the skirt a good waste down with warm soapy water. 2. give the area I'm planing on spraying a wipe over with white spirit. 3. give the area a wet and dry rub down. 4. mask the area off from the rest of the paint work. 5. spray the area with a gray primer. 6. give it a dry rub down. 7. spray with primer again. 8. give it again other dry rub down. 9. spray the area with moondust spray paint. 10. do another dry rub down. 11. spray again. 12. again other rub down. 13. spray with lacquer a couple of times One other thing whats the best sandpaper to use? MC_Bob
I cant really comment on spraying, dont know too much about it. But when sanding, you want to keep it wet all the time. I use a bucket of soapy water and just keep dipping the sandpaper in when it needs it. Afaik, youll need 400 grit or thereabouts, but im not 100% sure! MC_Bob
Ask the guys there, they should be able to tell you something worthwhile about sanding them back and spraying if theyre not thick (rare at halfords I know)
Marcopolo
I know what you mean lol! Just wish I was near my local Halfords as I got an old mate who work for them, and he knows a little about body work as he mashed his old mini copper up and had to sort that out.... I'll put photos up of the work when I have finished it!!! Hopfully it'll be ok as this is my first time doing some body work, I need to lean this as I what to sort my D/S rear arch out as there is some rust around it. I think doing the skirts should be quite easy really..
MC_Bob
Should be fairly straight forward. Ive got rep skirts and they need a hell of a lot of work doing to them
Marcopolo
Well I thought my skirts would need a lot of work sorting them out, but they just need a good clean up and a bit spraying and a little repair work, shame I dont have the jacking covers though Hope fully if I dont get the covers before Silverston, I'll get them there..
