MC_Bob
Was just an idea, What about linking up the intakes of the ITBs, and hooking them up to the standard MAF, would this remove the need for ECU remapping? (ie megasquirt) Cheers
Stu
It'd technically work, but you'd lose most of the benefit of going to ITB's.
MC_Bob
Oh ok, didnt expect that. Would it be one of those things which wouldnt be worth it for the money? Or would the power increases still be there?
Stu
N/A intake design is complex and requires lots of testing to get right. The point of ITB's is to have a clean, unrestricted path for the air to flow into the engine (that's the most basic explanation, tuned lengths are too advanced for this, and my poor brain at this hour).. You'd effectively have to create a common plenum for the ITB's and unless you have an engine dyno, you're never gonna get it right.
MC_Bob
Quite frankly that just sounds beyond me lol. Fabricating Ive got no problem with, but it sounds as if its not just, 'make something that fits'. Ta.
