Posted July 20, 200816 yr ive bought a new MFI Turbo engine for my motor, and i noticed when i got it home that it has the hold for a CPS, which i think means it can be used to run an EFI setup? what exactly is needed for that, and what can be used of my existing setup to do it? im not planning on doing it anytime soon, but i'd like to know what works involved so i can decide if its worth it at a later date. July 20, 200816 yr just means its a 90spec block... if you find your inlet manifold don't fit then its an efi head you'd need an efi wiring loom ecu inlet, injectors map sensor etc and a flywheel with the correct pickup points (i think the escort 16v one is ok)or and an adaptor plate to fit the efi manifold
July 20, 200816 yr Author so the MFI head is ok as long as its an EFI inlet? or would an EFI head be easier? doesnt sound like much of a parts list tbh. any idea on how much work fitting the EFI loom is James? cheers for the reply btw fella
July 20, 200816 yr Just bear in mind that if you go to EFI, then you will also need a suitable chip, map sensor and injectors which won't necessarily be very cheap.
July 20, 200816 yr very true, depending on the power level your aiming for it might be an unneccessary expense fitting efi
July 20, 200816 yr I don't think any of the erst's ran efi. afaik the frst's did so you probably have a frst block. *waits to be shot down in flames*

July 20, 200816 yr Author I don't think any of the erst's ran efi. afaik the frst's did so you probably have a frst block. *waits to be shot down in flames* they didnt, but AFAIK some came with the crank sensor hole and kept the blocks the same. i can pick up and OFAB loom and map sensor cheap, then its just injectors and whatever else is needed. ive had some strouble with my metering unit so if i can get rid of it then i will, but as i said not right at this moment in time.
July 20, 200816 yr the 90 spec escort turbos shared the block with the FRST... which as reid rightly said has the cps hole in it.
