Sometimes, the brake pedal can feel spongier, then it can feel normal and work as usual.

Not sure if its related, but the handbrake is pathetic and at the end of its extention I think, but once ever 100 times or something the handbrake will work PERFECT

Anybody got clues?

not related to the hand brake mate, ry rebleedin them and change the brke fluid

try replacing the flexi hoses, done that on mine (front and rear) brakes perfect now.

The flexi pipes do have a problem in that they collapse inside.

Goodridge are about £60 (although i got mine of ebay for £29).

Now you come to mention it, the back one is rubbing on the exhaust, but Ive spaced them apart now. Culprit maybe?

Cheers for the replies.

We did have one of the front calipers off, and never bled the brakes, again, could that be why?

ive got the handbrake issue also, dont think its as bad as yours tho. what needs to be done to get it fully functional again?

New rear brake shoes...

if they are ok then adjust the handbrake cable.

Take the cover off the handbrake and use a deep 10mm socket

to tighten the cable.

Personally I like the handbrake adjusted so that

4 or 5 clicks up is the maximum needed to fully lock the back wheels.

MOT testers also seem to think this is the magic number :D

Having said that I would check the rear shoes first as,

if the handbrake needs major adjustment, Other parts are obviously worn.

cheers Squiz, does the handbrake have to be off whilst doin this? cos i live on a hill :pancake:

Yeah needs to be off or it will be too tight to adjust.

Time to get a couple of bricks under the wheels :thumb:
