I've just got my self a new tail gate to replace the one I reversed into a trailor.

Can I have some tips on how to fit it. Image diagrams would be a help also :)

most important thing is a pair of extra hands as them tailgates are heavy ,very straight forward job in fact ,lower rear of headlining and disconnect loom, remove bolts, disconnect struts, refit is reverse of removal
two extra people is a bonus, one on each side and that way you can concentrate on lining you new lid up

Looks to be a fun job in the street then! Hopefully I might be able to push a button and pop the boot open too !

You also have to loosen/remove left hand parcel shelf mount as well to release the wiring for the boot lock/fogs & hi lvl brake light.

Also remember to take off the C clips that hold the damn ram ball joints in position before you remove the tailgate bolts..

I didnt and I was doing it by myself :( turns a fairly straight forward job into a nightmare :D

If anyone has any photos they wish to share so I can get a visual idea of what i'm looking for that'd be handy :)

It's easy enough to swap the locks over too I guess?

What a bundle of fun that was... NOT.

I started to remove the interior at about 3pm, finally got to the point of removing the tailgate at 4pm and finally after changing locks, testing the boot switch (which unfortunately STILL does not work)and screwing the plastic back in i finished at 9:30.

I'm not convinced its lined up at all 100% so it might be a job at the herts meet for me and some of the guys to get it properly on :)

can you hear the boot solinoid trying to open the boot? if you can its probably the linkage, thats the case with mine, it works when it wants to lol

if not then try replacing your switch, check the fuse and relay aswell :thumb:

Switch has been replaced.

Fuse checked (will double check, which one is it?)

No sound of boot trying to open. Ive checked the switch end for a voltage, 12volts there. Check the back end, no voltage reading what so ever.

Because this dont work not does the alarm, and the alarm is something I want to work!
