Hi, where is the ecu in an r reg ford escort 1.6 zetec, and how difficult is it to remove it?

passenger footwell, triangle (ish) shaped trim. Remove it and you should be able to see it

Afaik it is in the passenger footwell on the left, triangle plastic panel, remove that & slip your hand up there, i think its in a cage type thing on a mk6.

as said pass side footwell behind the plastic trim,it sits in a cage which is held with a rivet,just drill this out,and out she comes!

Is there any other way of getting it out without drilling the rivet as the drill bit keeps snapping, do I have to take it out to work out the ECU number?

It shouldn't damage the drill bits.. are you using the drill correctly? :|

are you using the corect dril bit, needs to b a drill for metal.
