Could someone please give me some advice on fitting an electric sunroof to my mk6. I have purchased the motor etc just need advice on wiring it to the fuse box and runnng the wires up.

yes i have the loom. it's running the live and earth wire from the fuse box i'm not sure about. any advice would be great

If you look in the drivers side footwell you might have the wiring there for it already.

If you do it will be a purple/black and a black wire. these will be taped up to the right side of the fusebox and on a 5 pin connector that is black with a red tip.

If you dont then spur from fuse 18 96/97 model year or from fuse 19 98> model year.

Basically you need to spur the live from the power feed to the electric windows, Purple/Black in colour wire.

The earth can be put straight to any earth point in the vehicle and there are a few behind the kick panel on drivers side

That is standard Ford wiring and imo. the best and easiest way to do it

Isnt that for fitting remote central locking ??

asuming you mean the 5 pin connector front right with 4 thin and one thick spade terminals ?

theres too looms, one from the sunroof motor to the switch, and one from the fuse box to the sunroof motor. sounds like you need the second one, about £10-£12 new from ford - plug and play

couldt u use the loom to go from fusex box to motor from a mondeo?

Just want to point out.

The electrics on 96/97 model years are totally different to those on 98 onward escorts...

Might be a good start to state which you have and

either way whats up with wiring it exactly the same as Ford do ??

that loom can do both.i bought the sunroof loom and it also had the remote wires in as well.

I think I may just convert mine to 98> with new wiring throughout.

I have looked for the loom coming from the fuse box i don't have it. I have taken the panel off where the fuel cut off switch is its not there or under the carpet, so i am saying i don't have it.

 

I have the loom for the motor to the switch.

 

Also the loom from ford someone mentioned do we have a code for it?

my car is 98.ive got a finnese with aircon and no sunroof.but ive got the place for the loom,i use it for the drivers electric chair.have you looked to see if you have the pins on fuse board ?

All 98 up fuseboxs have all fittings enabled but you need the loom.

To spur from the purple/black just bare an inch of wire and solder your spur wire to it.

Would reccomend buying the loom though as its a 98 up car and piece of Pee to fit
