Gage Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Been looking around a few on the topics about filters and people seem to agree that by drilling the air filter box that it will create the same noise a performance filter. Is this true and where do you drill and how many holes, if anyone has a pic I would be very grateful. Cheers Lee
Ryoishikawa Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 all this does is makes the air travel through these holes aswell from the cold air feed makes the car sound abit better.. drill the holes under the filter so the air can be filtered ok.... drill as many as u want but dont go mad... i did this and took the rez box off sounds alot better even tho i have big back box loads of noise.... oh the rez box is the small box next to the air filter box attached to the filter box just take the air filter box off and un clip it off 5 min job . also be carefully when taking the air filter box off as the bottom of it may break but if they do just abit of glue will do
Squiz Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Dont know if I should mention this or not The small pipe attached to the bottom of the air box is to recirculate dirty air that is issued from the engine breathing system. On motorcycles I have tuned I have found removing this breather pipe from the clean air system is a true hp gain.So if you remove that pipe from the clean air system you will genuinely gain HP.(proven many times on a Dyno), Not by "Oh it sounds louder so must be good" Unike drilling holes in your air box that will effectively make a lot more noise and nowt else Just something you may wish to consider... If you do decide to remove it fit a small filter to the pipe to keep things clean.
