Since i had my car last year i've had no problems with starting.

 

Until yesterday. I pulled up outside a friends, i was there about 5 mins.

 

Got in the car and it wouldn't start. Lights come on the dash with ignition but when i turned the key to start it nothin happened.

 

I tried it a few times still nothing. So i opened the bonnet then started it a minute later and it fired up ok.

 

Drove somewhere else, was there about 15 mins and the car started fine. So thought it was a 1 off.

 

Went home for 2 mins and happened again, lights come on dash but nothing happening to start up. Wouldn't start for a few attempts. Then it started after leaving it for a bit.

 

Never happened again all day.

 

What's going on?

 

Would it be something to do with the starter motor?

starter motor, altenator, fuel pump, fuel filter, ht leads, plugs...........take your pick but start with the obvious, so fuel pump

Even though there is no sound from the engine at all when i turn the key?

It doesn't even try to start there's just nothing.

 

Im split 50/50 on this as I would say starter motor or immob problem

im with steve on this one, either starter or immob, when you turn the key does the fuel pump prime? if it does that rules out immob problems i would of thought

also listen for the relay clicking

I turn the key and the dash lights come on and the light for glow plugs.

 

When the glow plug light turns off i turn the key thats when theres nothing.

 

It only happened the two times yesterday and i've been using the car several times today and had no problems.
