bailes1992
And my Dad's new Volvo T5 Anyway no before pics but the car has done mainly A Roads and Motorway journeys all week so allot of fly's and dust. I gave the car a wash down with Shampoo Plus though the Super Spray. Then washed with TBM with shampoo plus and a lambswool washmit. Alloys were cleaned with Valet Pro Alloy Cleaner and Waxed with Megs NXT. I decided not to dress the tyres as they look nice, matt black. The car was dried off with Race Glaze One Pass drying towl and polished with SRP. Once that was done the car was waxed twice with megs nxt leaving 10 mins between each application. All the lights and the mirrors were cleaned with Megs PlastX. Anyway... Car is stunning!!! not slating what he's done, but he's done what the norm person does which is what i do too, clean polish then wax basically.(which is what i do) what i would say detailing involves.. foamingclaying washingde swirling (paint correction)polish wax(including wheels etc...) just my opinion though Edited August 6, 2008 by bongo
bailes1992
Paint correction dosent have to come into detailing anywhere Paint corrections is paint correction. I used Foam, car didn't need claying, was washed, dosent need de-swirling, polished, and waxed

redcab
nice job but agree about detailing on a new car as there is very little paint defects to overcome.....this is my new mondy....megs gold class wash and dried with 2 x £1.99 spontex microfibres (from tesco pmsl) this is 30mins work....I can spend 2 hours on me escort and its nowhere near as good. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i280/mickc65/19062008012.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i280/mickc65/19062008006.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i280/mickc65/19062008007.jpg
Mike C
You don't need any form of paintwork correction to class something as "detailing" But agreed, all that's gone on there is a good wash, needs at least a couple more stages etc to be classed as detailing. Nice looking car though
bailes1992
A good wash? It was polished and waxed? What else do you need?
redcab
it is more than a wask...I like the 9th pic down...rear quarter still looks wet...good going to get wet look on white. be carefull with polish on such a new car tho, as long as its kept clean with some wax coat it'll be fine. bailes1992
SRP is a very very light abrasive polish but has pleanty of fillers and cleaners. Can use it all the time and won't cause you problems.
