Posted August 9, 200816 yr right at the moment i'm with tiscali broadband and phone and nothing but problems with them slow speeds mainly (1 test today resulted 83kbps ) also intermittent disconnections,so i'm looking at changing in the next 2 months. whats your views or experiences.
August 9, 200816 yr Virgin media is nothing special, its all ex ntl. Were with talk talk, phone and broadband ( which is aol ) and no probs at all, and certainly quicker than your broadband.
August 9, 200816 yr Author next door neighbours are with talk talk and they recommend it,so i might try them. my internet speed is Shite as iv'e said but before i have seen 3-4 meg,but when i call tiscali to complain about my slow speeds they tell me my line only supports 2meg which to me is bullshite coz i have seen over that with them and when i was with plusnet previously i was constantly seeing between 5-6 meg.
August 9, 200816 yr Once its up and running its not a bad service at all ,but customer relations and service are very poor
August 9, 200816 yr O2... if your a customer (PAYG/Contract) 16Mb/s for £10 a/m, No usage limit (Fair policy just states that your not meant to rape the connection 24/7) I'm currently getting 10-11Mb/s as BT aren't upgrading the lines around here until the end of the year but still worth £10 a/m Upload and download combined I transferred over 250Gb last month with no moaning
August 9, 200816 yr Interent is awesome, im on the broadband XL package and was downloading 1.6mb/s from Steam. Latency are sub 10 for a transatlantic connection. Simply the best public internet connection on the market. Only problem is virgins new policy on downloading of illegal films and music. But im a prolific downloader of the said items (i have a collection of over 4000 films) and i haven't heard anything, yet. August 9, 200816 yr right i resently moved home after being with virgin media sincd they started it took them 3 weeks just to send me a new broadband. personally i would recomend going with sky as my babys mum has been with them for 3 years and never had a problem
August 9, 200816 yr I've been quite impressed with Virgin Media's actual products, been with them for YEARS! (When they were Telewest obviously) The internet is and as far as I'm aware, always has been, one of the best internet packages widely available in the UK. Havn't really had problems with them personally, although as said, the customer relations is not that great. My mum's only had to call 'em once about the digibox for the TV. Took 'em a few days, and a couple of lengthy calls to sort out, but they gave them a brand new box, so not complaining....

I forgot to note that there 8Mb, 16Mb and 24Mb services are only available in ADSL2+ areas (about 80-90% of the UK) and do offer an ADSL service, upto 8Mb which is more expensive than the 24Mb ADSL2+ service...
August 9, 200816 yr Author i seriously might give them a go then, they cant be any worse than what i have now,and for £19.99 for 8mb unlimited download and free anytime calls it seems a good deal.
August 9, 200816 yr I've actually had nothing but problems with them. We're on an UNLIMITED package.....that throttles us down between 4pm and 12pm, often to crawling speeds that are slower than dial up. Their customer service is awful too. THis isn't a one off for me, as I started the university year with virgin media, was again so upset and annoyed with the service I changed to BE Broadband. They are excellent, good value for money, and the speeds are super quick all the time, excellent customer service too. Linky-poo
August 9, 200816 yr i'm with With BE "Up to 24 meg ultra-fast broadband" not had a problem with them, and quick interent and i'm a net junkie and no complaints! in an ADSL2+ area :-) their customer service is pretty good to, cant fault them
