hi, got a m reg escort and the boot wont open when I press the button, it jut makes a quiet click then 2 seconds later another quieter click, ive smoothed over the button on the boot so cant use the key. any one know what i can do?

get someone to push up and down on the boot while you press it.

mine does that but i have the advantage of using the key.

have you tried cleaning the pins/blocks on it when its open may sort it

 

also the hinges at the top

 

failing that try another switch

put a small child in the boot. via the seats an as you press it they open it..?

can't you just take the interior trim off in the boot and flick the latch to open it?

not quite as easy as that as you have to get to the screws,or smash the thing off and get another from the scrappy for £5

mine used to have that problem, i crawled into the boot to open it for weeks, when you do get it open see if your boot solenoid is getting hot? mine wash red hot, couldnt put your hand near it without feeling the burn

how do i open the latch from inside the boot, tried pushing up and down that didnt work, and tried pushing upwards from inside the boot.

Release the rod from the lock then push down on it toward the floor...

if the plastic cover is still on the boot lid you will have to break it off right in the middle. then stick your finger in there and push everything down until

it unlocks.
