I've be trawling the web in search of a simple media player style application (Something like VLC for TV cards) that is compatible with TV cards and capture cards.

I've nicked the TV/DVB/FM/AV hybrid card out of the mrs PC (which is a homemade Media Centre 2005 PC) as she doesn't use the PC... mainly because I over clocked her graphics card until it went pop... :innocent:

My PC isn't a media centre... it's XP Pro based so no built in support for TV cards.

The application which comes with the card is a cheap media centre copy with min specs like 400Mhz P3+ yet doesn't like a sloppy turd on a duel core machine.

I have Nero MediaHome but again that's a media centre style application.

Is there anything more standalone for these cards?

ATI do a media centre which includes recording, but i would guess itll only work on an aTI card? Haupage also do one, again i would think its maybe only good for their own cards?
Look up something like gb-pvr.

its open source freeware and ive got it installed on my media centre at home. lets you run you films, music, photos and TV through your pc and itll more than likely recognise your tv card.

follow the instructions on the website, its awesome.

MEDIAPORTAL looks ok... but it's a media center style application :(

I'm after something like VLC

VLC will stream from the card... but you have to input the channel information manually (ie: BBC One North West could be 458445)

Works ok for AV though...
