I have a 4gauge power cable that i need to pass from the batery into the foot well. What is the easyest way for someone to do it that is a complete novice?
I put mine through a hole in the door and through under the plastic at the bottom of the door to the amp in the boot :thumb:

i did mine by actually drilling a hole in the bulk head then little laquer then grommit it, and good to go! plus you can add extra wires thru as and when you need to,

you can go thru the wing i believe but i never bothered with that, 4 gauge aint really thin is it now! lol

If you look above your fusebox there is a big rubber sleeve/grommit that all the wiring comes through form the engine bay.

That is your best route.

The wiring goes up under the wheel arch between the wing and wing liner

then into the engine bay behind the fan motor compartment.

easy to lay the cable along that false bulkhead and straight to one of the extra fuse holders on your battery live terminal.

Also wondered

why does no one use a straight take off from the main power in cable to the fusebox.

The dirty great red wire with the captive 10 mm nut attached ?

That is fused and feeds the whole car direct from the battery.

I used the wheel arch grommit. You can probably fit 2 or 3 0gauge cables through it! Its huge.

Because amps can quite easily draw more current than what that cable can handle. Don't forget, the wire to the fusebox is designed to deal with the various load the car itself can draw. Adding another 50-100 amps (or whatever) onto that will only result in one thing - failure.

I personally put my power feed through the bulkhead due to laziness. Rubber grommet, of course.

Anyone got a spare grommit.... sound the easyest way to me lol.

Stu is quite correct squiz ,

you dont need one theres already a massive one fitted on either side of the car inside the wheel arch liner,Im sorry but just drilling holes in the bulkhead is p1ss ass lazy and a bodge now matter how pretty the job looks,Do it right or dont bother is the only advice I give anyone

yours sounds the most unsafe bodge I have heard in years  :jaw:

Ahh thats why then ;)

But yes still take it through the existing bulk head grommets.

Its far easier than bodging a hole in when the only places you could drill are within 6 inches of the existing wiring grommits anyway

Wheel off, arch liner off and feed down from the battery into the arch then through the rubber grommet into the passenger footwell, then just a case of taking the plastic cowlings off down the side of the floor and into the boot.

+ 2. Thats how i did mine. A bit longer than 5 mins though lol

not unless u use a electric screw driver, 6 torx screws, arch liner off poke cable through seal grommet with sealant job done lol

Im so tempted to get a car for you to do this on with a stopwatch as 5 mins is pushing it
