Danzetec
They are made from steel tube which is slightly smaller overall size but with a wall thickness twice as thick, so they are nice and strong

Welshy_Pete
Hello on my car I have a front upper and rear boot strutbraces on my mk6 ford escort. What does this lower strutbrace do? Also do the lower arms last as long with these fitted on? Anybody know the answer yet lol
RyanML
id have one for £50 delivered wanna fabricate a nice mk6 rear one too? lol.
Danzetec
Sorry Pete, the lower strut brace basically helps reduce flex in the subframe and so holds the suspension geometery as it should be. It shouldn't effect your wishbone life but to make your wishbones last longer to really want to upgrade them with a set of Powerflex bushes, I'm going to be adding these to the website soon I also want to offer polybushed camber adjustable lower arms, these imo would be a better upgrade for road-going cars Funny you should say that Ryan - the rear one is next on my list! I'm making one for mine so I will gauge interest from that again

Andy 3i
Is there no discount to EVO members Dan How would a rear one work? Can I order one through word of mouth then pay on the weekend mate??
Danzetec
Here is a photo of the brace fitted http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb87/Danzetec/mk6escortlowerbrace.jpg Fitting is the same as the Ford item: Un-bolt the front wishbone bolts and pull clear to drop through the end bolts then assemble, the centre fixing is a bit of a pain because its beneath the steering rack. So you either un-bolt the rack and fix rear bolt and reassemble, or if your very careful and have a slim 17mm spanner you can do it up with out removing the rack I will hold your name on one Andy for the weekend - please check the mk5 subframe has these fixing holes tho The rear one I think will be somewhat like the sparco one but universal fitting for mk5 + 6 - any input on design would be welcome
Trig
Do you recon there would be any benefit to a bolt on brace around where bends are, to come underneath the exhaust? or does the bolt on bit for the streering rack take up any flex issues there? The centre fixing gives it a great deal of strength because it triangulates the load from each end. Its a good design imo, thats why I stuck quite closely to it but I have increased the wall thickness to reduce flex. A brace beneath the exhaust wouldn't help a great deal and would probably give ground clearance issues
Andy 3i
Well mine is a 5b, an N reg too, so i can only assume that it'll fit. AFAIK they are the same underneath. Cheers Mate, I'll try and order one ASAP
danposs86
Have you tested it out, does the exhaust hit when giving it some? I only ask because the 'hoop' bit looks a little smaller than the original.
