Logging Visited Websites

Right guys, here's the situation.

I have a Netgear DG834GT (Super G Wireless Modem) Router in my office, and two computers are connected to it using a network cable.

Basically I've taken someone else on to do some part time work and I want to know what websites he's been logging onto whenever he's in the office. Obviously at certain points during the day I'm out of the office so my computer will be switched off.

I know when I was at school the IT guy knew if we were visiting certain sites (like football ones for instance) so obviously there must be some kind of logging software or something out there.

But I have no idea where to start with this, so any kind of advice would be appreciated!

The school/work thing is easy because companies usually run a proxy server which logs... you could set one up at home easily which logs on one of the computers but locking down the machines so they cant change the settings is trickier..

sorry if im being nosy, is it so you can see if he's doing the work he's supposed to be doing or is it to see if he's doing something dodgy?

doubt its illegal companies do it but not sure if he has to sign anything to allow you to screen him, like an IT policy?

Change router settings to block keywords relating to such sites but allowing a certain IP... Yours.

192.168.0.1->enter user and password (Default for this router admin and password... or sky)->Security->Block Sites (which in includes keywords)

Preventative rather than spending hours looking through logs checking the porn being visited!

phil-smith.tk- that is a big assumption that all routers work in that way.

100% agree.

The netgears here for instance i can indeed do this but try that with a 2wire bt business router & its a different story altogether.

Read the first post before accusing me of making assumptions... :thumb:

My suggestion was simply an instruction for the exact make and model router stated...

If you want a record just check its history after he has gone home.As for site blocking its quite simple.

You can just use keywords such as porn, pron, xxx, & any sites containing these words are then blocked.

Have you give him an internet policy & had him sign it as an employee with your signiture too plus dated?
