Matt86
Cant quite believe it, prob still in shock. Glad it was in the black one not the new car. Was driving down the road by my house and a police car came round the corner with his blue's on, I slammed my brakes on and ended up in the rear of a parked Yaris. Im gutted... not sure what is going to happen but because of the excess I will have to pay and the fact I was relying on the sale of this car to finance the new one.... the new one will probably have to go. Advice needed- is there any kind of compensation avaliable from the police for these types of things.... the policeman told me it was because I was inexperienced!! Im not exactly a brand new driver. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g82/matthewkwillis/crash001.jpghttp://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g82/matthewkwillis/crash003.jpghttp://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g82/matthewkwillis/crash004.jpg Edited December 23, 2008 by Matt86

PeeWee
Nasty, shame that matt. Not quite sure how you ended up into the back of a parked car due to slamming on?Did you have to swerve from the police car?police car coming towards or behind you? Matt86
Annoying thing about it is I was trying to sell the car. Its only an LX so at most I can hope for is 800, leaving me with 400 after the excess. Not quite sure how you ended up into the back of a parked car due to slamming on?Did you have to swerve from the police car?police car coming towards or behind you? Police were coming towards me... parked cars both sides of the street and only space for one car to get thru.... panicked I guess?

Craig855S
Gutted mate. You shouldnt pull out of the coppers way into an area where u cannot avoid hitting something, u should have stuck to ur line and braked as best u could,if u ended up hitting the cops then thats there fault for trying to enter a gap that u had no choice but to enter. or if they slowed for u u could have got out the other side fine. Try citezens advice and if you honestly think it was either the police car or the parked car then u may have a case.
Jt.
you can claim compensation from the police insurance, this happened to a mate of mine a few years back and he ended up getting 5k from them, the police although on an emergancy have to give you room to get out of the way, by the sounds of it they didnt and like most people blame the other person. go to the C A B and speak to them, they will be able to help you propperly
Escort_Kid
Deffinately seek further advice as it does sound as though the police would have some responsibilty over causing you to crash

escortsinner
Dont mean to sound harsh ,at end of the day you were the one that skidded and swerved into parked car reguardless of what was coming towards you,So as far as insurance will be concerned they will put it down to lack of control of your own vehicle even though I agree its unfair

Matt86
I will give CAB a visit but as escortsinner says it was me that ended up in the rear of the parked car.... police will just stick to their claim that I lost control through inexperience. Aslong as my insurance sort it all out Im not bothered anymore, just want it over with and to get out in the cabby!
