Thats what i was thinking but those BMWs are made of chocolate and string.

Will see what her insurance says as im only covered 3rd party fire n theft so dont think my insurance company will give 2 sh1ts. They'll probably offer me the value of the car to make it even which is fine by me. Got plenty of gaffa tape to fix the bumper with. lol

how badly did you hit her head on to bend the suspension? well her insurance will have to pay out more as that would probably need a complete suspension setup changed over and knowing bmw genuine parts will cost in the thousands! most garages or bodyshops usually change the wishbone, hub, knuckle, suspension leg and anything else that looks bent the slightest to avoid anything bad later on.

have you checked out the front panels yet to see if there is any damage behind the bumper? knowing most cars you don't really see all the damage until the bumpers are taken off, my bodyshop has had many cars in with what looks like a simple bumper change but take the bumper off its major panel damage!

as the accident was not yor fault, you can say you dont want the car writing off, that you want it replacing to the way it was before, and her insurance has to do it

a friend of mine was hit in the rear in a ford puma, the insurance wanted to write it off but she refused as a cat C is worthless. It may cost the insurer more but they have no choice

Well the windscreens now fooked. Massive siperweb style crack over the tax disk holder that keeps getting bigger.

I didnt hit her very hard, was probably 15-20mph. It was the fat that my bumper hit the top of ther o/s/f wheel so its bound to bend.

havent herd from her insurance, cant get hold of her via telephone. Havent got time tonight to ring her tonight so will have to do it tomorow.

Personally, i dont care if they Cat C it as i should get value of car back (free motor then) and i dont care what happens about selling it on as its a cheep derv runabout. :pancake:

hopefully it wont happen to you but people sometimes admit its their fault at the time then change their story later. or they'll tell the insurance you admitted liability.

my mate was going round a roundabout on his motorbike and a car pulled onto the roundabout and side swiped him. after the bloke admitted it was his fault he later got a call from his insurance saying the bloke said he did nothing wrong and was trying to overtake him around the roundabout.

over a year later his bike is still awaiting repair.

  • 1 month later...

FINALLY had the car estimated for her insurance today. Taken long enough but at least somethings happening.

Will her insurance turn round and say "we aint repairing cus its gonna cost too much and the cars a pile of crap" or will they say "heres a curtosy car, we'll ring you when its finished"?

I need to sell it now for something bigger, i dont want to particuley pay 101.75 for 6 months rent then sell the damn thing and loose out.

If he happens to know an accountant, tell him to get hold of them asap... You can sometimes claim interest on the cost of repair because of the time its taken! Well worth looking into anyway!

am i being thick? why is her insurance company doing it? As when i crashed my escort, repaired in myself then sued the woman who casued the accident, usig my motor legal protection, and another time my insurance company sorted it all out, repaired it curtosy car and they claimed off the other persons insurance. thought that was how it worked?

Well im not covered fully comp you see. So technically my insurance dont want anything to do with it.

She was a fault and its only fair my car gets repaired, so shes claimed on her insurance so my car can be repaired. Im not repairing it myself as her insurance want it done by an approved repairer. Fine by me, saves me mauling my ass off to repair it. :D

so are they repairing at your request, writing it off or what?

and are you going to sell still?

Well acording to what ive heard on here, i can demand the car is put back to the way it was before the accident. In other words they have to repair the damage caused in the accident, and that I can refuse it being written off.

Yup, i need to sell now as i pick my landrover up on monday.... I just wish her insurance would hurry up!
