My Past Cars

This is a LONG post and people rolling on a bad boy 56k connection might want to go make a cup of tea while it loads.

- 1986 Mk2 XR2 (not actual pic): Had this car for about 6 months, properly good banter... until I left it somewhere in Fife and it got trashed. Power: 100bhp (estimated)

- 1992 Citroen BX GTi 16v (not actual pic): Bought this when I lost my XR2, it cost me 80quid and lasted about a fortnight before I burnt the clutch out and left it sitting there. Power: 150bhp (Citroen Figs.)

- 2000 Mondeo 2.0 Zetec: First 'proper' car and it was pretty quick, did a lot of miles in it cause I was working thru in Kirkcaldy at the time.. when I'd finished with it, I gave it to my dad so he could use it in London and not worry about getting dents/dings in his car. Power: 136bhp (Ford Figs.)

- 1992 Series 2 RS Turbo: Always promised myself an S2 and when I got rid of the Mondeo I decided to bite the bullet and go for it.. so managed to buy a J-Reg 1992 RS Turbo, one of 8 that were registered. I absolutely loved this car and threw thousands at it. Power: 167bhp @ wheels, 0.9bar.

- 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo: After having the RS, I was addicted to Turbo power.. and having friends with Imprezas didnt help. I was getting pissed off at the RS being tempremental in traffic and breaking wee things now and again..... so, I went and bought this from Town and County in Perth. Power: 260-270bhp (estimated)

- 1999 Honda Civic VTi: Got offered a crazy deal for my Impreza above, so I decided to swap for this Civic plus a mountain of cash.. as it turns out, this car was one of my all time favorites. It was quick, handled well, sounded awesome and it never ever let me down despite getting a large amount of VTEC every day. Power: 175bhp

- 1998 Subaru Impreza Turbo: One of my friends in the Subaru Owners Club was wanting to move away from his Impreza for something a little less expensive to run so a straight swap deal was done.. and I set to work transforming the look of the new Scoob...... this was one of my best looking cars IMO, still in the area too. Power: 240bhp (estimated)

- 1993 Honda Civic VTi: Bought this from a guy I knew in the area, had a load of mods on it.. and was quick. So after I blew it up the first night I had it, I went for a B18 conversion on it..... after that it really did go like a train, things werent meant to be though and it spun a bearing and I sold it on eBay and recovered pretty much all my money I'd spent. Power: 169bhp

- 1994 Toyota Celica GT4 WRC: This was the quickest car that I've ever owned and it sounded the absolute bollox, JUN Cams, TD06 Turbo, External Wastegate and Screamer Pipe... awesome, bought this off one of my best mates after he'd spent a lot of money on it. Great fun, smoked loads of stuff in that including a 911 Carrera 4S & new E55 AMG among other things. Power: 400.3bhp @ 0.9bar

- 1992 Peugeot 205 GTi: This was ****, smoked like a bitch, didnt go fast, didnt sound nice and it felt like raindrops would dent the bodywork.. but it was clean and it handled well. Power: 60bhp, max (estimate)

........here we go, as promised. :thumb:

- 1992 Rover 216 GTi: This is the funniest car I've owned. It had the Twin Cam Honda Engine so its actually pretty quick and with the DIY Motorsport Induction Kit I fitted to it, it sounds awesome too.. List of kills include Saxo VTS, Vectra 2.0 16v and numerous other Corsas etc. Power: 120bhp (estimate)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/grantfarnan/DSC01655.jpg

- 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo PPP: This is the cleanest Impreza I've bought, 40k miles, rare colour, well cared for, low owners... Bought a few parts for it, then got an offer from a guy I know through in Arbroath so I sold it on to him. Power: 260bhp @ 1.15bar

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/grantfarnan/DSC01917.jpg

- 1996 Vauxhall Omega Elite Estate: I remembered my old man having one of these when they were new and it was the most comfortable car I've ever been in.. so went and bought one as a runaround.. it didnt drift for **** but it was comfortable, damn thirsty on the fuel though. Power: 200bhp (estimate)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/grantfarnan/Picture006-1.jpg

- 1997 Toyota Celica GT4: Bought mechanically/visually standard as a blank canvas to work with, came in the very rare Storm Grey colour. Spent a lot of money on the car and it still needed work done, so I punted it on after getting fed up of it. Power: 317.7bhp @ 1.05bar

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/grantfarnan/Picture023-1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/grantfarnan/Picture018-1.jpg

- 1993 Ford Escort RS2000: Saw this car for sale on the RS Owners Club recently for a good price so decided to go along for a wee peek at it.. well I liked what I saw, so I decided to buy it there and then..... Has a few mods on it and drives really well. Sold to a mate for him to use as a runaround. Power: 165bhp

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/grantfarnan/RS2K007.jpg

- 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo: Was looking for a car to take dog around, mum could use occasionally for bad weather driving to her work and as a replacement for when I sold the Grey Celica as it was pissing me off.. found this absolute bargain on Autotrader and gave guy deposit over phone without seeing it, 29k miles, FSSH, mint condition... in Essex!! I actually made good money on the car by trading it in for the SpecG. Power: 240bhp (estimate)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/grantfarnan/Picture072-2.jpg

- 2007 Subaru Impreza STi Spec G: Got pissed off with older cars costing me money to maintain when they broke, and money for mods to make them the way I wanted them to be. So I decided to go a bit balls out and buy a brand new Scoob with the intention of leaving it alone......... which lasted about 4 days before I put an exhaust on it, cause it sounded wank as standard. Done a few more mods to it since, and its almost exactly how I want it to be, defo the best car I've ever owned. Power: 355bhp & 390lb/ft

- 2000 Ford Ka: Needed a new runaround when the Rover gave up the ghost and shat its bottom end during a mapping session on my private stretch of dual carriageway. Had always fancied a Ka since I had one as a courtesy car back in the day, but couldnt justify spending a lot of money on something that was gonna get the back seats ripped out, covered in dog hair and thrown around roundabouts at comical speeds... until this wee bargain came up. It had 1 elderly owner from new, mint condition, never been welded or had paint and ran like a dream. :D Power: 65bhp (estimate)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/grantfarnan/ka.jpg

- 1996 Honda Integra Type R (JDM): Decided to sell the Scoob and had a deal lined up.. so cause I'd always wanted a Black DC2 I went out and bought this Teg from a guy in Fife. Well, unfortunately, that deal with the Impreza went tits up and now I've got both cars...... at the moment. The teg is amazing around the back roads, I'd probably say I'm as quick in that car around a twisty b-road as I am in the SpecG.. its THAT good. Power: 200bhp (estimate)

There we go... up to date now. I'll put pics of my MK6 Escort up in the correct section once I've had a chance to get it in the garage for a proper clean up. :D

Cheers,

Grant

Thanks for all the comments... I appreciate them. :thumb:

After I sold my Series 2 RS Turbo, I went from car to car quite regularly, kept wanting to try new things and seem to have always returned to Subarus. Which is why I went for the STi.... thats coming up for 2 years now, apart from the RST, the longest I've kept a car. Dont see me selling it anytime soon either, it ticks too many boxes and the only thing I could see replacing it is an RS4 or Porsche 911..... which at 25yrs old, are a wee bit out of my reach!! Haha.

Ryan, I will defo be there.. if I can get the SpecG taxed up without losing a months worth then I'll bring it, if not, then I'll be shotgun in a friends Hawkeye STi. Back in the day, you could write off a months tax when a years worth cost 180ish but when it costs £400+ for tax its a bit harder to let a month slide. :D

Craig, to be honest mate, I drove a UK Integra TypeR a couple of months before I bought my JDM model. The UK left me pretty underwhelmed, on paper its a 10bhp difference but in the real world its a fair old difference. I'm still on and off that site... its a reasonable place to find cheap parts and keep up with what could be happening in the area, but I certainly dont go shouting about being on a 'cruise' site. Hahaha.

Grant

  • 1 month later...

Thanks for the comments about the cars. 8) 8)

Chicane, I used to keep cars for about 6-9 months at a time.. but I've had two at the same time, and sometimes I've had three at the same time when I've been able to do that.

Longest I've owned a car was about 3 years, that was my S2 RS Turbo, the current Impreza STi has lasted nearly 2 years but its up for sale at the moment because I'm very keen to do a deal on an Escort Cossie. I've been talking to the owner for about 12 months trying to convince him to sell and do a deal!!

Cheers,

Grant
