Bumper removal

ok here it is, finally removed the front bumper off a spares and repair mk6. There must be an easier way to do it, heres what i did. Took off both arch bits, undone screws on sides of bumpers, managed to get to the bolts from underneath drivers side but on passenger side it was a different story. Had to remove (cut it out with a hacksaw, lol) the washer tank and cut away a few pipes in order to get to it then spent an hour nudging them around with spanner from underneath until they came off. My arms were bleeding and i was knackered. How do all u guys go about it?

If you have a/c, it's a nightmare.. I shredded my knuckles on the a/c condensor when doing mine years ago..

My bumper only has the 4 bolts that grate your knuckles on the rad. Edited March 12, 2009 by Bravo81

Just use 2 nuts on the backs of the bolts :-)

You undo the screws that hold the A/C unit in place (10mm head 6mm bolts)

then undo the bumper nuts....

Very simple and easy then

Also use a ratchet spanner

i smashed my recent one off as it was already dead, and angled grinded the one before, also dead. so much easier!

 

still a b*stard putting back on with a/c...easier if you got access to a ramp

I've still got marks on my knuckles from attempting to remove the bumper off a escort with AC.

 

 

I just put it on car ramps and came up from underneath it and did it that way, there isnt an easy way.
