t-man
right bought a car from another member on here, only bought it for breaking so as long as it safe to go only the road for one final drive that would be fine. i haven't got the money for a recovery truck at the mo. pick the car up etc. tbh never look round it. the pictures on the thread were as it looked so no problems there. gave it a quick look over everything looked ok had a months mot, so drove the car on trade plates back to me lock and left it, it was bouncing all over the place on the drive home but just thought the shocks had gone. gone done to have a look at the suspension for someone last night and BOTH the front springs had snapped! by at least a coil and a half!! the drivers had actually started winding out. the lad has let take the car on the public road with a major suspension fault and it could caused a major accident.i have spoken to him via pm but feel really doesn't care, and has just passed the blame onto someone else. my question is would you personally want to know about this when purchasing an item from this person? i.e me leaving feedback? Stu
In all fairness broken springs are common on old escorts and a lot of people wouldnt know..
Apnea
They should have told you in the first place this was the case. But what can you do? It's happened now. (Didnt mean that in an offence way)

Craig855S
i agree that the owner may not have known they were broken..if he is not mechanically minded at all he may have NEVER EVER even seen a suspension spring in his life.
sortedford
I once had a Mondeo with 2 broken front springs, must have travelled 100miles in it before it was stripped and they were found. I doubt most people would really know till its picked up on a mot.
Richie_Si
Just be lucky that nothing happened on the journey home. All I can say is that next time check the car over as much as you can before hand. Have you had dealings with this person before?
speedy
most cars are sold as seen and as much as i apreciate you think you can trust other club members it dosent meen to say the other member is a mechanic or mechanicaly minded its just a risk you take i supose when buying a car
sidrick
I'd mention it in the feedback, but it's no big deal, whether he did or didn't know. You freely admit that you didn't check it over. More your fault than his if there was an accident.
mykez69
well gonzo0 was driving around with a snapped spring for god knoes how long, he didn't know till he had his car checked over, so imo its a common fault that you will never noticed unless you take the shocks off
escortedal
in fairness you bought it for spares so what can you expect??you should have checked it over first, and when it was bounding all over the place you should have stopped and looked for a problem rather than to continue your journey..
