EscortNreg
Whats the best way to go about it? I know it needs sanding but whats best to use?
caled
I'm assuming you looking for answers other than 'sandpaper'? Just start with a large grained piece ~200, and work your way down in two or three steps to 1500 grit., making sure that you keep the paper nice and wet, with a little washing up liquid for extra smoothness. SLEEMAN
i just used alot of plastic filler primer from halfrauds, its good stuff! just bascially sand the surface down with some 500, then spray layer upon layer of filler primer on the surfaces and around the edges! i done about 5 thick layers of filler primer on mine, it doesn't matter if the primer runs as its gonna be sanded down to be flat smooth! sand it down using wet and dry 1000 grit paper soaked in water as it doesn't rub the primer down as hard as dry paper would! then de grease and clean off and the surface should be as smooth as silk! then just put on the paint but take it very easy with the paint though! as any runs in the paint would have to dealt with i.e. sanded down with 1000 wet and dry again! then when the surface is fully painted and completely dry then you can add on lacquer, colour sanding isn't best on small items like these as paint only covers the surface! the lacquer just gives the added shine! be extra careful with lacquer as its thinner than paint and will run if you're not careful! go over with a light dusting leave that to dry then cover again using a thicker layer and leave to dry and then add a final coat of lacquer and leave that to dry overnight! then if there are any bits of crap like little bobbles just use 2000 grit to gentily nib them out and gentily rub the entire surface down, and using polishing compound like tcut or G3 and polish the part, don't go mad just go over it gentily rubbing in the surface so it brings back the shine! and then install on your car easy! Craig855S
its easier just to moster through the grained plastic with 200 grit then once the bobbles have gone make it like glass with 800+,then key it with scotchbrite and commence priming (obviously no need to use filler primer now)
