insurance when i tell em about alloys ect

Recommended Posts

If i was to buy a new exhaust and some 17" alloys, how much do ya fink my insurance would go up?

If i did'nt tell the insurance people that i had put some alloys and new exhaust on my car what would happen. Would they just not replace the wheels and exhaust if i was in a crash or would the whole insurance be void ?

Look at it this way, next to your tyres and brakes insurance is the most imporant part of owning any car and must be maintained .Insurance companies are out to make profit, they are a business. If you have a accidnet with undisclosed modifitcations then in thier eyes they can find it a very easy way to void your insurance and not pay out ultimatley making more money for them. This then leaves you with a court apperance, a huge fine for not having insurance and the costs of any mental and pysucal damanges to the other party involved. In other words you are fecked.

Don't skimp on insurance, its not worth it in the long run.

i got all my mods declared on my escort, away back at the year being 17, first year of driving etc!

premium was £800 tpft, all my mods declared incl:

full custom bodykit

window tints

air filter

performance exhaust

alloy wheels

custom paint job

after it was declared my premium - £800 tptf :D

am i good, or am i good, it was gonna be affected by the exhaust, but you tell them its only a 2-3bhp increase! they put the premium up if its over 5bhp increase (thats with cis)

cis are quality for declaring mods, since there a big stable company, cosmetic mods doesn't bother them, engine mods does.

Anyone actually know of this happening?

Dont declare anything you can take off easily IMO.

Alloys should not put up the premium by much at all.

If your car originally came with some sort of alloy wheel, get a price from Ford for a full replacement set of wheels and tyres at their prices 8o

Then tell your insurance company that you've fitted some slightly bigger wheels and tyres, but that they cost less to replace than OE equipment and they have NO argument for putting up the premium. ;)

I swapped from a RS2000 motor to a Ford Galaxy 2.3 and even informed them I was running RS2000 cams

They said that because the vehicle the engine came from was a lower ins. group than the one I took out the premium would remain unchanged :hbday:

They deal mainly with TPFT and do some good deals.
