AntLX
Hi fellas,I'm after a half-decent remote locking car alarm you fit yourself. All I need is for it to lock/unlock the car, popping the boot would also be cool but not essential. I'd like it to flash the indicators and perhaps make an audible indication as well, but not essential. So, what price range do ya reckon I'm looking out, and how much work is involved in the fitting? Would I need new relays/wiring for things like turning the interior light on when unlocking the car? Care to recommend or link me to something? Cheers,Ant

Cheers,Ant piece of pee to DIY aslong as your given the correct wiring diagram for your motor along with the alarm. Id recommend a Cobra alarm, £50ish on ebay and does all the things your after, at 50 notes you can get one with remote locking, interior ultrasonics, siren and fobs.you can buy add-on kits that can be fitted at a later date that allow full closure and remote starting if your after that sorta thing in the long run. their website offers wiring diagrams for most all types and Mks of motor but make sure when you buy one you state accurately what particular car its going into so theyll give you the right diagram, for instance a Mk5 escort wiring schedule isnt colour coded in the same way as a Mk6 so be careful. bsg
I've gone for http://www.hawkcaralarm.com/alarm1.html Gave them a ring yesterday and they were really helpful and gave me another number to call if I have any difficulties fitting it (like balls i'm gonna try - will pay someone!!) I was also told that there is a newer model out of this with a few extra features that they are going to send me and honour the price on the website... bonus!
