ST170 Dan
well, seeing as though we had nice weather and my recent interest in serious detailing i thought id give my car the full treatment (or close to the full treatment). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00050.jpg i started by taking the wheels off to give them a proper clean. doing one at a time i took them off, used megs wheels cleaner and gave them a good scrub (the black bits are dirt stuck in bubbling paint but im not too bothered about this atm as id like to do a full wheel refurb in a few months) before giving them a rinse and putting them back on the car. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00052.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00053.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00054.jpg next i gave the car a rinse to loosen any grit (i would have liked to use a degreaser but i didnt have any at this stage). i rinsed the car using the 2 bucket method and a woolen wash mit. the 'rinse' rinse bucket: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00055.jpg i then emptied both buckets and refilled them - one with AG shampoo and conditioner, the other just water and washed the car. i then finished by giving the car another rinse. next i moved onto claying the car. the clay after the whole car was done: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00058-1.jpg i then decided not to polish as im getting a rotary in october and would like to leave as much paint as possible to play with. at this stage i would like to have cleansed the paint but my local shop didnt have any so that will have to wait aswell. so i moved onto waxing. i used the triplewax stuff (not brilliant i know, il get a good wax when i buy alot of product in october). this stuff was an absolute nightmare to get off, i was having to rub really hard. i had the same problem last time i used it - im not sure if its the wax or the sunlight, unfortunately cant do much about the sun as i dont have a garage to aid buffing the wax off i used quik detailer - it was that difficult to remove!! i finnished day 1 by dressing the tyres with AG tyre dressing and going round the car with a detailing brush in all the crevices and final sweep with the microfiber: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00056.jpg day 2 started with the interior: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00059-1.jpg i gave the floor and seat fabric a hoover, i then used simonez upholstery cleaner on the floor and seat fabrics and gave them another hoover. i then gave the leather, dash and doorcards a wipe with a chamois and some water (no product for this yet, will get some for next time) quickly dried with a microfiber. i then went over the leather, doorcards and dash with AG leather care cream and gave the car one final hoover. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00060-1.jpg i then turned my attention to the engine (no before pics here im afraid). i liberally sprayed AG engine/machine degreaser over the engine, doing one section at a time, allowed it to settle then agitated with a brush and rinsed with a jug of water. i repeated this a few times on each section. i finished up by wiping with a chamois and dring with a microfiber: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/DSC00061-1.jpg and then one final sweep over the car with the microfiber and i was done and very pleased with the results. by far the most thorough detail ive done to date. il take it to the next stage when i get my rotary. i then took advantage of the nice weather by scouting out some nice locations and taking some photos. the pic of the bunch: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/20.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/22.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/24.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/26.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/29.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/5-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/30.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/4-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/12-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/15.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/dreadscort/31.jpg

mykez69
Can you only use them clay things once ? Depends how bad the car is Liam. If the car is pretty bad and the clay brings up loads of bugs, grit etc, then I would bin it. If the car is clean and the paint doesn't have much contamination then you can use again. As all the grit from the floor sticks to it, then you rub it on your paint...Nice! lol Make sure you have clean hands too. sounds daft but some people have right skanky hands! When you get a bar of clay, it is quite big most the time, so you just cut slices off so you don't waste all of it
scortpower
the alloys on the 170 are shocking, every car i seen they seem to have the paint peeling and bubling, mine are going a weird colour in the corners of the spokes, gonna have a go at refurbing them myself and spraying them anthracite or similar colour
