looking for 1 or 2 torches i can use when walking the dog .. can anyone recommend any ? , spotted a couple in argos 2.5 and 5 million candle but reviews say the battery dont last long , seen some on ebay that are 160 lumens ... whats the difference ??

Look for LED torches, consume less power.

Rechargeable torches are great, bright & cost little these days (think i paid around £8 at B&M's).

my step dads got a led wind up torch which u dont need to ever replace the batterys in you just wind it up when you want to generate power ! :)

but i want the torch so i can see where he is , i'd spend up to £30 , how about this one on fleabay for £32 inc P&P

clicky

IMO avoid rechargeable ones, and esp the cheap stuff that comes out of china

as a surefire is out the question, what about something like this:

clicky

it is battery run though.

maybe a maglite is the best option? 2D? 4D is a bitch to carry!

PS the dog is beautiful!
