Still cant decide what to go for......

2.0 rs2000 lump or 2.0 zetec.......

 

Pros and cons for either engine would be nice? I used to have a 2.0 zetec in my old escort but dont know what the other would be like.

 

Both would have similar basic mods, Induction kit, decent manifold and decat, catback system.

 

Ive heard something about the gear ratio on the rs not being able to hit 60 in second gear, is that right? Anything really to help make the decision would be good!

zetec easyer to turbo.

yes thats true rs's cant hit 60 in second but it gets there alot quicker

but to be honest you dont want to be doing 60 in second on either engine? if it helps tho a chip allows the rs2000 to do 60 in 2nd gear.

 

zetec- 136bhp

 

rs2000- 150bhp

 

rs2000 is a little heavier but torquier too, sounds nicer also.

easier to tune (n/a) as the head is miles better than the zetec, can still be turbo'd or supercharged dont know if its harder as its the same principal.

 

of the 2.0 mondeo engined scorts iv been in...iv not been impressed compared to the 1.8...theres not alotta difference. (and no they wernt fooked either)

its true, there isnt mega amounts between 2.0 escorts and 1.8 ones, but if you get a good zetec it can be equally as fast as one with an rs2k lump, my mates 2.0zetec was rolling roaded at 147.5bhp and only mods were manifold decat and exhaust... Its a bit quicker than mine too, and ive beaten 2 rs2ks now.

a chip that allows the engine to have no limiter will be the only way to get 60 in 2nd

 

but then you'd probably blow the engine as you'd need to rev above 7500 maybe to gain 60 in 2nd

 

ARP rod bolts would help with this but still will go bang eventualy.

 

but im biast and would say I4 all day long as hate Zetec's lol

Personally for ease of sourcing parts, much lower pricing and a much easier conversion the 2.0 Ltr Zetec would be my weapon of choice, But the RS2k is slightly more powerfull, at the same time much harder to convince people its only a 1.6 Sleeper ;) lol look at my engine pics :P rofl.
RS turbo engine would be better than both.
