October 3, 200915 yr Sounds interesting mate, so since its got all that, is it just going to be a tidy up and MOT?
October 3, 200915 yr Author yeah pretty much, but ive got a few other plans for it aswell.. the car also comes with a uprated inlet manifold but its not yet fitted. plans are:4branch manifold/decatfit the uprated inlet manifoldproper induction kit pipercross viper on bmc style with cold air feed and a bit of a paint up.. sure there will be more! haha!
October 5, 200915 yr sounds different...but why is it a sleeper when its most likely going to be putting out LESS power than the standard 1.8 zetec engine?...
October 5, 200915 yr aye, wrong ECU, TB MAF, injectors etc, gonna loose you more power than your hoping for
October 5, 200915 yr Author what set up should it be running then? and no way has it got less power than a standard 1.8!!
October 6, 200915 yr Hey everybody, mods so far are:1.8 zetec lumppiper camsrs1800 chipped ecu + injectors2ltr throttle body + mass air flowmagnex stainless exhaust spax shocks and springs -40mmfull polybush kitrs2000 front anti-roll barblack diamond front discs and greenstuff padsrs2000 rear axlers2000 rear disc conversion (not yet fitted) and there is lots more! i got it for excellent price! should hopefully get sum pics up tomorrow! all those things WILL lose power. as been covered many times. the standard cams are to hot...so uprated cams will loose even MORE power. the ecu in the 1.8 is prfect for the job, an ecu off a different engine will only muck things up. 2ltr throttle body and mass air flow sensor, the throttle body makes NO difference, the engine can only use a certain amount of air, a bigger throttle body does nothing other than make full throttle useless as you will be at peak power at around half throttle, the sensor will also do nothing. (see pic) A being standard, B being 2.0 setup. http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/21658.gif and just to reitterate (sp) a mish mash of parts ie. rs1800, 1.8, 2.0 and random cams. how do you expect them to work together? especially on a standard engine. put it back to standard and you'l go faster and a sleeper is something that looks slow, a car thats lowered with rear discs and a loud exhaust doesnt say sleeper... to go faster? carbs, throttle bodies, turbo, supercharger or nitrouse are the only real way to go. carbs being the cheapest way which will be around 3-400 quid to set it up yourself then the carbs need tuning. nitrous from £500+ and throttle bodies, turbos and superchargers from 3000 upwards...
