Posted October 4, 200915 yr Just been reading on here about the 300mm Mondeo upgrade...and people have been complaining of spongy pedals. Is this due to poor bleeding or is it due to the clylinder not being able to cope? What can it be upgraded to? Is it just the silver cylinder, or do i need to change the black diaphragm too? All help appreciated
October 4, 200915 yr I done the 300mm conversion on my old Si and had no complaints of it being spongy.I know a few other people who have done the conversion and they have found it to be fine also.
October 4, 200915 yr I found it a bit spongey on a standard master cylinder/servo. I believe the RS2000 one is larger, but then you run into issues with ABS potentially. I'd probably just live with it. On a seperately and completely unrelated note, I just did a similar conversion on my Audi yesterday (from OEM 288mm to OEM 312mm using stuff from the Audi parts bin) with Ferodo DS2500 pads and it's going to be mega.
October 4, 200915 yr Author Why would i run into ABS issues? I haven't got ABS. Is it a worthwhile upgrade? On a seperate note, does the RS cylinder have a bias valve for the rear discs...or do i have to put a rear brake compensator onto the rear floor?? Just worried about rear brake lock-up...? It was fine before, but with the 300mm will it cause rear lock-up? I might just keep to RS brakes The 2.0 isnt going to be fast enough to justify bigger brakes...
October 4, 200915 yr the standard MC will not be up to it. i replaced my'n with a 130spec(slightly larger bore size) one and braided hoses and its fine now no spongeness at all some have replaced the servo too but from what i read its a ball ache
