Hi, my 96 p reg cabbie has a developed a rumble from the rear. Is this a common rumble from the wheel bearings on their way out? I jacked the rear up and tried moving the wheels up and down and side to side but it felt normal! (and yes the handbrake was off). Any ideas?

how does the motor sit when still?

have you checked the rear springs for fractures/breaks?

rear shocks leaked?

have you checked the rear bushes for perishment/spliting?

and I know this might sound condescending but.....

is your spare wheel secured and not rocking on the jack in the recess??

Bearings don't wobble until they are really bad. Try spinning the wheel and listening. Also, uneven tyre wear can cause rumble.

It was the wheel bearings after all! Any one have any idea how much new bearings are? Is the local motor factors the best place to get them or Ford?
