Posted October 10, 200915 yr tried some in mine today when i filled up from tesco petrol station as had a 5p a litre voucher and thought id give it a go , car seems to rev a little smoother and its also sorted out my idle problem useally when i start the car it revs up to 2k , but with the 99 fuel it revs at normal tick over whats your pros and cons or what experiences have you had with it
October 11, 200915 yr Engines seem to run a little smoother on higher octane fuel i find but its not truly WORTH the money unless you have a car that can take advantage of it (cars fitted with a knock sensor/and especially forced induction cars)
October 11, 200915 yr The 1.4 CVH I had loved it.Engine was smoother, cold starts were quicker.Slightly more responsive. The fuel ecomomy was slighty better (enough to make the extra few pence worthwhile) Tried it in the mrs Punto... has no effect at all. I do however make use of Shell V-Power diesel and BP diesel Ultimate... works out cheaper than buying redex and seems to have the same effect. (it's just diesel with extra lubricants and cleaning additives according to them)
October 11, 200915 yr I've alweays wanted to try it as i've heard looooads of people get better mileage with it, but on such an old car i've pretty sceptical whether its going to make any difference atall apart from in my wallet
October 11, 200915 yr Definiteley makes some sort of difference as my old mk4 stopped backfiring on overrun. I THOUGHT it made some sorta difference to my mileage in my old si when I first put it in, but when I carried on I didnt really notice anything, so went back to using normal cheapo petrol, back when it was 95P a litre!
October 11, 200915 yr Made no difference at all to my old 1.6 finesse. I ran it on 98 from France and the difference was noticable, but when i got back to the UK and filled up with 99 from shell it went back to normal.
October 11, 200915 yr i used to run mine on bp 102 octane that was the best petrol i ever ues but at 1.99.9 a litre it was a bit expensive
October 11, 200915 yr Well the car should run better ... If not then its the biggest scam of the 20th century .. Pretty crappy how you cannot get lower RON fuels in the UK .. In the states you can buy 85 .. For pennys a Ltr Edited October 11, 200915 yr by RO55
October 11, 200915 yr made a big difference in my Focus RS, normal petrol it made it stink like it was running rich? but then Vpower cured that and was alot smoother to? strange lol used it in my Scooby also, so cant compare it to normal stuff as never used it in it haha
October 11, 200915 yr Most people up here were running it recently as it was the same price as 95RON 108.9 FFS
