Posted October 19, 200915 yr http://www.national.co.uk/images/20ptyresafety.gif Tyres are the only part of the vehicle which are in contact with the road. Safety in acceleration, braking, steering and cornering all depend on a relatively small area of road contact. It is therefore important that your tyres are well maintained and that tyre tread depth is above the legal limit to maximise performance and safety - it could save your life. October 19, 200915 yr i use the ond pound coin method, rest a coin in the tread and if it falls out, you need new tyres! Edited October 19, 200915 yr by dutchkev
October 19, 200915 yr A good way to gauge the tread depth if you haven't got an indicator Look at this website for info on how tyres perform at reduced levels of tread > www.3mmtyres.co.uk Edited October 19, 200915 yr by Danzetec

The amount of trucks I inspect that have damaged/worn tyres is unbelievable!! But at £300-£400 PER TYRE some companies do like to make them last! Ive even drawn tread on a tyre with a biro as a joke...... then given it back to the operator!! lol
