Do all escorts suffer with poor radio reception or is it just mine.Tried different Ariel, even tried new stereo still the same,i can get all the stations but as soon as i start driving the signal fades or goes completely, any ideas how to improve it cheers.
im sure you can get a sifnal booster, have you looked at the ariel wire? could be a break in it somewhere
Glad somebody has asked this question, i have the same prob, all major stations are ok, but any local ones seem to come and go depending on the area, ie hills, buildings, that sort of thing, ( sorry talking fm here only), i just put it down to the above blocking the signal, but having been in other peoples cars that would not seem to be the case???
local stations are a pain major ones were always a pain for me. i listen to kerrang but live 30 miles from brum and work another 30 miles away in derby, depending which way i go i either get a signal or i only get one for a bit of the journey. my pugs receptions better tho.

Cable is fine, radio 1 always gets the signal heart fm hit and miss,my dads galaxy gets them all and has no problems, pain in the arse it is.

Be careful with signal boosters as they amplify the entire signal, which includes the noise, leading to fail.

The chances are a poor quality coax cable is used and renewing this will lead to good result.

OK,the cable is the original from new, cable tied neatly in the roof lining, looks still in good nick. Just didn't fancy going through the hassle of changing it if might be something else, wheres the best place to buy new coax cable. The aerial is the original as well the thin type could that be the problem, did try a thicker 1 off an fiesta was slightly better but only slightly.
