Fitting an custom xbox 360 case

Right, ive had enough of my xbox 360 sitting there looking ugly, my telly is gloss black, my dvd player is gloss black, my freeview is gloss black, my sound system is gloss black, and my ugly xbox is standing out like a sore thumb. I contemplated getting a ps3, as they are so much better imo, but funds dont permit so ill keep the 360 :) Ive found a nice gloss black case, which has a window on the side for fitting leds/neons inside. If i buy this case, ill fit a better fan - http://discoazul.co.uk/whisper-fan-blue-xbox-360.html - which has leds. My big question is..... some people recommend leaving the heat shield, the big metal panel which hides the insides. But most people leave it out, so you can see the insides. Does it really matter? Im not a hardcore gamer, ill play the occasional game, a maximum of an hour coz any longer i get bored :P So its not really gonna get that hot. Any opinions? Cheers

The xbox360 gets hot instantly the shield has a purpose, are you going to use your xbox with the rear of it facing forwards?

If not then why worry about blue flashing fan LED's?

Your nice gloss case wont show your insides anyway, its not transparent?

because the fan is quieter, and runs faster. the fact that is has leds is just a bonus, and would be nice to see through the window. but whats the point of having a window, if behind it is a sheet of metal, so you cant see the insides? :L

What window? the fans are fitted to the rear of the xbox are they not?

Unless your going all out & illuminating the inside & your new case has a window on top, but then again thats not going to enhance your other gloss black items (this being the whole point of your mod).

The stock fans should be quiet btw? Its usually the drive thats noisy unless its a Benq?

the case is like this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VIS...em=280420551765 - but gloss black. the fans leds would light up the case like that, but my point is, that example picture doesnt have the metal heat shield. But if it did, it would block all light, and through the window, you would just see a metal sheet. But is the metal sheet really that vital?

Nah! Microsoft had lots of that sheeting left over from the original xbox's and thought rather then waste them they would put it into the new model so that when people opened them up to modify them they went "ohhh shiny". :pancake:

You can spray your case and cut ur own window.. ;)

if you want to have led's I would say.. solder a 12v supply off the board and fit led PC fans they allow better airflow keeping ur 360 cool...

also look in to having a delay on the fans when you turn the 360 off to keep them running for a bit as thats when the heat spikes causing the damage that leads to the rrod.. ;)

These are pics of my 360 after rrod i need to replace them when I finish the case.. lol
