hicksy
I hit a bloody pot hole on friday night in the mondeo resulting into me having to change my wheel to the stupid space saver, and buying a new wheel and tyre . Being a zetec s wheel too its like rocking horse poo 2nd hand so i had to buy one from ford for £193 and a new tyre for £70 Ive been driving mums cabby around the last few days so its not all bad Ive put a claim in to the local council but i doubt il get anywhere Have other people managed to claim from their local councils for the same thing?? stevmo3691
hard luck. they had a feature about that on fifth gear a while back. you can claim from council responsible, theory is if enough people complain they might fix it
Matt86
Thats a beast... council should cough up for that. Was actually watching that Fifth Gear repeat last night!
McRic
The same happened to me in the Mondeo. I took pics of hole and sent them away to council and got no where. Even with the pictures they requested I provide further evidence that they were liable for my damage! Just found mine here, sorry not trying to steal your thunder 50 ish mph (60 mph limit) on a fife road and you could be in a field, dunno how I stayed on the road after hitting this lovely smooth part of road. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/escyghia/DSC00405.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/escyghia/DSC00404.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/escyghia/DSC00403.jpg The aftermath http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/escyghia/DSC00407.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/escyghia/DSC00406.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/escyghia/DSC00402.jpg
hicksy
Mine was on a 60mph road on the isle of wight, its sooooooo frustrating(sp) isnt it. How much did your wheel set you back?Serves me right having a car with 18inch wheels as STD lol And with me having them refurbished in graphite grey ive got to get it sprayed too Thats £260 i didnt want to have to spendhttp://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w200/tomhicks1/DSC00156.jpg Ive got to rub all that nice shiny paint down now and repaint it in graphite grey lol
McRic
Why did you buy a new wheel if you're painting it anyway? Usually a few of those wheels floating around ebay. A few days before the incident I'd arranged a px deal with a refurb company to have mine done dark grey (these wheels are 18" also) I called them and explained what had happened and they charged me another £60 for another wheel so wasn't too bad. hicksy
I couldnt find a single wheel anywhere, i checked ebay and MEG and couldnt find anything And i wanted the wheel asap so i could drive the car, (i hated driving on a space saver)
meekstaaa
you should have taken a picture of the ruler in the hole measuring the depth of the hole. if its more than 40mm iirc they are liable
GazSi
i'd get them to pay for that mate, if its more than 40mm sue them if you can
stevietec
I did my front and back wheel, they were 18's as well. Took pictures of the damage and where it happpened and the council paid up for wheels and tyres then about a week or so later all the potholes on that road were filled . Maybe you can only get compensation if its a main road? Good look with your claim hicksy
wwwd
You won't get anywhere, the people at the council are w*nkers. We've got shocking roads around here, a few mates of mine have had the same problem (and taken pictures, written letters, etc.) and got absolutely nowhere. Someone really needs to start a Facebook group or something. Sorry about your wheel, I'd be furious if that happened to me. Which is highly likely where I live...
