Rosco
hi guys, did a quick search on this but decided to put my own post up to see if anyone can provide any pointers. I'm running a healthy 2.0 zetec with 130 spec inlet, throttle body, ecu etc and a standard XR3i exhaust manifold and system. However the fuel consumption is pretty bad, even when just cruising about. Its in a stripped out mk4 escort so not really a heavy car to pull about. Engine has just had a fresh oil change also. I'm thinking of replacing the lambda sensor, and maybe plugs etc. Car runs perfect and goes like the clappers when you want it too, just i expected a little bit better economy, at the moment i'm getting about 40 miles to a tenner? Stu
You can't use money in a fuel consumption discussion as fuel prices change. Can you clarify your statement by saying how many miles you get to a litre/gallon? Detail exact what injectors, MAF, ECU you're running.
SteveB
To get an accurate figure of mileage you need to fill the tank all the way - reset the trip recorder - run it around until you're down to half a tank or so - fill it all the way again and note how many litres you put in and what the trip recorder says. Trig
I put £55 of diesel in mine yesterday and will get 510 miles out of it, 2 weeks ago I put in £56 of diesel and got 490 miles. The difference has something to do with only paying £1.109 yesterday and £1.149 a couple of weeks ago,
Rosco
in terms of injectors etc, its just standard as removed from the mk5 XR3i but bolted on to a silver top 2.0. not really had car on road long so will try gettin a decent mpg reading if it doesnt bankrupt me first! Stu
If you're not running the proper ecu/maf/injectors for the 2L engine then don't expect miracles.

Rosco
seen a few cars run this set up and i dont imagine they would put up with this economy - its not as if the car runs erratically or anything, it runs absolutely perfect. Just didnt think it'd use more fuel than my Cossie!
