sidrick
Disabling a service does not remove a virus.
PeeWee
Avast should run but due to the thing already installed you may want to try running it in safe mode then selecting a scheduled boot time scan from avasts menu. This will reboot then scan your pc before windows kicks in.
eetaylog
Disabling a service does not remove a virus. No but it will allow me to try some other antivirus software to get rid of it. I cant do anything with it running.

mykez69
if you install malwarebytes. locate to the install folder and change mbam.exe to say aaaa.exe it should run as the virus wont detec that it is open. I am not sure if this technique will work on this particular virus but it enabled me to open malwarebytes and do a scan when i had something like this. scottg17
Okay, I deal with this or viruses very similar every week at work... 1st. Download malware bytes from http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5756 and save to desktopThen boot the PC in safe mode, tapping F8, pick safe mode with networking from the advanced boot options. change the file name of mbam.exe to somthing else... try running the file.. if it runs, install MWB and update - do a full scan and it should rid the little annoying person If it fails to run, right click the exe file, click compatibilty and set it to run in compatiblity mode for windows 95, somthimes confuses visues, run then remove infections
SteveB
You haven't actually got a virus of course - just an annoying PITA programme that pretends you have just to scam you into parting with some dosh. Malwarebytes gets rid of it.
