M44K TS
So, I passed my test in 2002, had my Mini as my first car, started life as a pretty standard 1.0l Mini, spent god knows how much on it.http://images41.fotki.com/v1307/photos/1/1133479/6668190/DSC00685-vi.jpg Took the Mini off the road as I was going to restore it so bought a 1995 306 Cabriolet, good in the summer, surprisingly good fun in the winter!http://images53.fotki.com/v439/photos/9/1133479/8434330/DSC01048-vi.jpg Then, part-xd the 306 for a 1996 Volvo 850 T5 Auto in top spec CD trim, was top of the range model apparently. Absolutley loved that car, went everywhere in that, including a spur of the minute 1100 mile trip to France with 4 other mates, (a 27 hour trip I'll not forget in a hurry!)http://images17.fotki.com/v522/photos/9/1133479/8434333/frontcorner-vi.jpg Then, I wanted something diesel for some reason, so bought a 2001 Audi A6 TDi, nice car, comfortable, good mpg, but i got bored quick.http://images32.fotki.com/v1061/photos/1/1133479/5311040/IMG_5565-vi.jpg Along came my Escort van for work, I loved it despite it being a non turbo, I wish i had kept it and put in a 2.0l zetec.http://images31.fotki.com/v1086/photos/1/1133479/4839181/IMG_4092-vi.jpg Sold the A6 in favour of a Honda Accord Type R, one of the best kept secrets of the car world, seriously, you have to try one!http://images46.fotki.com/v1413/photos/1/1133479/7037413/ATR023-vi.jpg Escort Van was sold in favour of a LWB Vauxhall Vivaro, (realistically, i needed a bigger van)http://images46.fotki.com/v1415/photos/1/1133479/5256332/DSC00905-vi.jpg As the Accord was getting close to 10 years old, I wanted something newer, so sold it and bought an Audi A4 Avant 2.0T FSI S-Line. Again, had every option box ticked, I wish I never sold it, (Infact, I was following it earlier today!)http://images43.fotki.com/v1381/photos/1/1133479/7048026/IMG_4651-vi.jpg In between all of the above, the Mini had been through a full restoration, so got that back on the road last year.http://images47.fotki.com/v1479/photos/9/1133479/7524019/IMG_5389-vi.jpg For some stupid reason, I decided I wanted something Italian and different, cue the biggest money pit known to man, a Maserati 3200 GT Auto. Nice when it worked, but bloody expensive to run and keep on the road. I honestly don't know why i sold the Audi for it, it was a BIG mistake.http://images47.fotki.com/v1589/photos/9/1133479/8376954/IMG_0109-vi.jpg Because the Maserati was useless in the snow, lets face it, 370bhp through 265/35/18 rear tyres and an Auto box isn't the best combo for snow, I bought a 1998 Escort GTI 3dr, (only just sold last week)http://images30.fotki.com/v40/photos/9/1133479/8241921/IMG_6509-vi.jpg So as of last week, I decided to let the Maserati go, so now my daily runner is a 2003 Range Rover 4.4 V8 Voguehttp://images32.fotki.com/v1091/photos/9/1133479/8389901/IMG_0140-vi.jpg So there we go, I don't think I've missed any. M44K TS
Cheers people Yeah still got the Mini, it's my retirement fund! Don't think I'll ever sell it to be honest. Craig - I loved the Volvo, but, I was a bit let down by the engine note, My dad used to have a 2.5 10v n/a estate as a workhorse, the engine note was awesome, T5 was still nice, but muted by the turbo I think. Yeah I love my engine note (2.0 10V, it has a drilled airbox and piperx panel with a standard exhaust) and it sounds fantastic. Deep and rumbly but a low volume, and the induction noise after 3.4k rpm is great through my drilled box and panel filter. When i replace it with a T5 or R I'll use the same filter and drilled airbox under the bonnet but i think ill have to sort an aftermarket exhaust out, and definately blank the recirc valve. Compressor stall will make up for any lack of bass that im used to.
M44K TS
Cool, do it! I had the chance of a Yellow T5R a few years ago, I could kick myself for letting it pass because the mileage was 120k. I'd love one now.
