daddycool
Hi guys im new here and hope u can help me out,I just brought a escort si 1.8 convertible (yellow) 1995. Very clean car indeed.Well it dont seem to have much pulling power for a 130bhp car, ticks over nicely and its not very noisey at all, has 92k on clock. When car is warm it seems to run pants, not power at all. When i Accelerate the car like judders then goes and by saying goes it slow increases speed, also tends to wana go to the left when Accelerated but tracking seems ok when not Accelerateing. The temp gauge isnt working properly it dnt seem to be overheating. Also pedals for clutch and brake seem creeky and brakes aint to good. any help will be most thank full. its only a day old and cost me £1000,has 11 months mot and some tax. so dnt no a great deal but its only had like 3 long owners, and reg serviced. dutchkev
firstly welcome to EVO secondly, check the plugs and the CAT, the plugs could be fecked or the cat could be blocked thirdly, the temp gauge could be the temp sender fourthly, check the brake pads/disks. the creaking could be the bar they sit on, might need a greasing lastly the pulling could be either traking/lower arms or track rod ends

dutchkev
i had the same problem - i needed a new rocker gasket. and you have the same problem, the gasket between the rocker cover and the head has eroded and oil is leaking into the plugs. i would suggest a new gasket, new plugs and new HT leads regards the lower arms, have a look undernear at them. or take them to a tyre place, they can look over them for you there

daddycool
changed the plugs today and still the same, old 1's where white at end with bit of oil around the thread. My probel still continues,my car seems good on fuel but very flat when accelerating and even sounds flat.I read up on a forum that a maf sensor can be the prob as its taking abit to start at times.Forum said if u dissconnect maf sensor and engine is still reving the same then its a faulty maf.well i unplugged it and my car ticks over and revs the same as it does with or without.is this my problem lads? An engine with a bad MAF sensor may start and stall or be hard to start, it may hesitate under load, idle rough or run excessively rich or lean. The engine may also hiccup when the throttle suddenly changes position. thats from a site, mine starting to take bit of time to start, think its lean as i did 215miles for £20, and hesitates on accelaration this is expensive however any1 no if this will fit mine? mines a 1.8 thohttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mass-Air-Flow-Meter-...=item3ca9e0d0f7
dutchkev
as long as the code matches up with yours then it'll fit - but it could well be a problem if it has no effect
