Sierra Cossie - Now a Bmw E30 Mission

i beg to differ

only down side is that is that the twin vanos unit can be a bitch if you dont look after it, costing a small fortune to find a new one

me personally wud choose the evo any day, the extra 21bhp over the other m3.

The Evo NEVER makes 321bhp, evaaaaaaaaaaaar. Even on over-reading rolling roads.

The 3.0 is so much more stable it's unreal.

I've experience with about 40 of each.

Tbh mike any point in a drifting car unless you plan on going to 'drift days' a fair bit?

You cant really be going sideways round the streets of derby all the time now.

Id save your pennies a bit and get a 2wd sierra cossie that way you can tell people you drive an actual 'cosseh' instead of a rep ;)

If its specifically drifting your after it may be an idea to buy an old mx5 or S13 200sx, or a ratty E30 or sierra with a 2.0 or 2.9, you dont wanna spend thousands on a car you very well may crash several times.

If i find a minter I will look after it, If i get my hands on a cheap shabby thing then i will use that to drift with so i guess it depends what comes up.

I'd like to have proper lessons and learn the physics of drifting properly rather than just throwing my self in a car park and hope for the best lol

What ever condition one i get will make my mind up what i want to do with it i guess.

Whats the best UK based forum for bmw's?

I am going to sign up to that bimmersport it looks good, might discover a few handy hints etc

hehe see below.

You know how long i have been banging on about bmw's for lol

A lot of the bimmer lads get pulled, cars taken off them because there at it all on the public roads and car parks etc.

Ammount of times i have been offered Bmws cheap here but there hot on the police scene as they been caught lighting the back tyres up so much lol

Excellent most appreciated.

It just nice to have a browse through people's threads, reading problems they have and all that.

I went into Escorts with my eyes closed, I like to learn about backgrounds of each car a little bit now lol

Guess we had to start somewhere. Learn from bad taste mods and trying to build a car on rot pleading to yourself it will be fine lol

80 percent sure my next car won't be Ford there will always be time for me to frequent this board.

The futures bright, the futures and empty bank balance.

mike, are you covered to drive other cars? if so you can have a quick go in my bmw 318is coupe. or il take you out in it (just need a new back wheel!!) thats the e36 4 cylinder 140bhp engine btw see if you like it before spending out? it'l go sideways all day long in the wet but you wont get much in the dry in standard form at any sort of speed (2nd gear and the entry to 3rd gear on a hard turn is its limit sideways really and it wont stay there long in the dry) and lsd are ni on impossible to get for the 318's so may be better off going for the bigger engine.

theres the 328's which are stil cheap can get lsd's for them easy enough and with a upgraded inlet manifold go from (iirc) 197bhp to around 220bhp as they are restricted (anything in germany over 200bhp carries a tax when sold new)

but either way have a go in mine. itl do its thing in a car park and handels like its on rails especially with the mspec suspension, shifts if you use the revs (for a big car thats not high powered) and the gears are fairly close together so you get more kick. in the wet you will have a ball...or a spin

ps i NEED an e30 in my life!

I may have missed it in the fuzz, but what is the purpose of the car? I hope you're not going to 'rat' a cossie!

if its an old banger sieera (not cossie) drift, or get a good standard sierra and rep it OR buy a cossie and keep it mint.

Mine has an LSD and I was under the impression it was fairly (if not totally) standard on European 318is's :-\ Maybe I'm mistaken.

As for letting him test drive your E36... it won't give him much of an indication of what the E30 318is will be like. The E30 feels a lot faster and is a lot more fun.
