Head porting

Depends if you want a proper job or not. Any idiot can attack a head with a die grinder. Knowing what you're doing tends to fetch modest amounts.

My guy charges around £300 on top of a normal head rebuild (about the same again).

If you're not wanting to spend the money on an aftermarket ecu and mapping, then you're not going to want to be doing a ported head.

Waste of time running a ported head without suitable intake modifications (eg ITB's). Big money.

True but after I get me ECU, engine, an suspention sorted next thing on the list is ITB's. its a bit of an on going project I dont have the money to do it all at once so I'm doing bits an bobs each month when I get payed

Won't that work out expensive with lots of different labour rates? If you save up and do it all in one go the labour should work out cheaper....

Have a look at my tuning guide in the mechanical forum (sticky at top).. it'll give you an idea on how much it costs for different engine specs...
