refurbished items.

Right i'm looking at getting this camera: Cannon Powershot A480 and found that on ebay here it is selling refurbished for much cheaper. now usually i don't bother with refurbished stuff, but what is everyone's opinions on it? do you think its a good idea or should i stay away and buy new?

I bought....A Canon powershot A...something or other from the comet-clearance website, shitloads cheaper than it should have been because it was ex display.. after only a few uses it began to eat batteries..literally. Brand new batteries would take about 6 pictures and the camera would be dead, brand new batteries would run the camera taking no pictures for only a matter of minutes. And because it was ex display it had a no return policy...and for that ill never buy ex-display or reconned items ever again.

I've only ever had good experiences with refurbished items.

Got my iPod refurbished from an Apple retailer. Was a little scratched on the back, but was otherwise perfect. It's still going strong 5 years later with almost daily use.

 

Saying that, i'd never buy refurbished unless I knew it was the manufacturer themselves that have serviced it.

I'd always buy new when it's a quality electronic item, worth over £100 or more.

 

Because you'll be covered by a manufacturers and retailers guarantee if anything should go wrong.

 

Most 'refurbished' items are never tested and have a very limited 3 month warranty.
