Flight estate project

Here is a couple of pics of the estate i have just bought, this was bought as a cheap runaround as for the purchase price i wasn't expecting much, but i have to admit i was very supprised on how well it did drive.

The plans for this weekend is to swap the engine as this nipped up on wednesday (which i knew there was a problem when i bought it) and since i bought a complete car for the engine i will be swapping over all the better bits of trim as well.

A few things to be done over the next couple of months will be to touch the paint up where needed and to patch the n/s sill as this has a hole in it, and keep my eye out for a nice set of alloys.

The white escort you can just see in upper right of the first picture is the donor car.

Nice to see another Estate, how much did you pay for it?

Being a V has it got the digital insert in the dash?

Pretty brave taking on so much work, I´ve had my Estate for 6 years and love it to bits, for the money there is no more practical and comfortable runabout on the road :-)

Even though Im an Escort estate owner I will have to disagree with you rigpig.... my housemate just bought a Volvo V70 estate complete with leathers and all for £700.... its more practical and is a pretty good cruiser! He has bought it to replace his Escort estate (yes we both have one lol).

Anyway that looks alright- once its had some TLC and some alloys etc it will look nice. Might be breaking mine in the not too distant future and my housemates breaking his soon so any parts you might need post it up in the wanted section will keep my eye on it.

Hi there rigpig i only gave scrap value on the car due to the faulty engine, and i bought it unseen, but i had to pay extra for the tax, in total £125 and the donor was only scrap value as well, and turned out to be the same model.

As for the condition i'm a ford trained bodyman by trade so i will be getting it in the garage when the weather pics up and touching in the bad bits, i may even colour code the door mouldings and handles, i also have an si front bumper with fogs for it.

I have a few bits of trim to swap on the inside but nothing too major and most of it has come out of the donor, the only bits i need to source is the plastic trim from the boot asmine is very scratched.

Well had some work on and poor weather so things are going a bit slow with the engine swap so here's a pic of engine/box fresh out of the donor, see how seat belts make good lifting straps.

With having some rain on monday i removed the couple of good mouldings and the door handles from the donor and prepped them for paint.
