Danzetec
I had a mondeo 4x4 and although it wasn't fast accelerating, it made up for it with off the line speed and the way you could carry speed through corners I'd imagine an RS2000 4x4 would be a lot of fun

stuey650
best handling car i've ever driven. Had mine 3 years, fantasic fun on twisty roads. Always felt it was a little underpowered myself. Heavier on fuel than 2wd varienty just with the extra weight and drivetrain. Used to get about 220miles to a tank mixed driving which was about £45 to fill so not that great. As for living with everyday, yeah excellent choice, great in winter, has plenty toys. Colours - get what you like, a rare colour isn't worth extra money imo. Get as good one you can for your money, i.e minimal rust!
massivewangers
Yeah I think it's worth looking at a few to find a good one. You don't really want to be fixing a load of rust for one thing. Parts for the 2wd are cheap and plentiful, but drive train parts for the 4x4 can command a premium, so make sure you get something decent to start with, ask when the transfer box oil was last changed and things. One with history is better really. The drive train is much stronger than the horror stories would have you believe, but it needs to be maintained well, as with everything! escort4x4
I own a 4x4 and is a much better car then the 2wd modelthere are a few rare colours, the most rare one being mallard green, and i think the silver colour aswell Straight line speed, well they aint much slower then the 2wd fuel economy could be better, but being as its slightly heavier then the 2wd it aint that badI personally believe that they handle so much better then the escort cosworth, you can chuck them into corners and not bat an eye lidDay to Day driving isnt a problem with them as long as you service them as regular as clock work you wont have a problemDo not launch them off the line or give the running gear any grief as this can bite u in the bum in the future, transfer box's are becoming very very rare and expensive to replace. And yes i would buy another one, at one point last yr i had 3 of them sitting next to each other
